Hi All.

I bought a laptop HP ZBook 14 G2 at February 8, 2022 and I have the receipt.

Nowadays, the system started to close the windows with a light blue screen and locked the laptop.

I wanted to execute a format and re-install the system Windows 10, but I've discovered that the BIOS is locked and I do not have the option "Boot from USB". So, I'm unable to execute a boot from a bootable pendrive.

I beliieve my laptop was bought from a security company which did locked the BIOS.

I'd like help from the community to solve this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @WFRodriguez

The BIOS cannot be unlocked, it is prohibited to give that information in this forum, but when you turn on the device, you can press the F9 key several times, where you will see the boot menu and can select USB.

Thanks Resistencia for your reply.

That easily? No.

I already checked all possibilities to solve it.

F9 show me only two options:

"Laptop Disk Drive" and "Laptop Ethernet"

There is no option for USB...

And also, I agree with you when you say "It is prohibited". But this laptop is mine, I bought it and I have a receipt.

So, I can do whatever that I need with the machine. And, If there is no other possibilty, this laptop will to waste.

Is that correct? I don't think so.

I think HP can solve it giving me a SMC.bin file to reset the BIOS, but they only will help me if the machine have had warranty.

Because of this, I'm recurring the community to understand if there is another solution.

Have a great day.
