OMEN 25L Desktop PC GT12-1000a (ID 1Z1C0AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I had to reinstall my son's desktop tonight. Installed the hp assistant to see what drivers etc were missing. There was a suggested firmware update. I let the assistant software do its thing. Rebooted into bios manager itself and updated bios blocks 1 - 256. All looked to have went without hitch. Now desktop will power on but that is it. I've tried resetting the Bios with windows key & b plus power, resetting CMOS by removing battery (located under Radeon graphics card). Also tried the jumper on the mobo. Nothing doing. Cannot get any output from keyboard presses. Tried different keyboard as well. I had a look in here and it looks like this might be a warranty issue. Unfortunately I bought the machine from Currys in UK so hp has no warranty recorded against the unit.

I'm furious that a recommended install from HP has caused this. I notice from browsing here that this seems to be a known issue.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix without re-flashing the bios using an external tool.

Hi

Sounds like you have tried most troubleshooting steps suggested by HP at this site https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04126730

Your PC is nonresponsive, no video and no USB I/O.

Your options are:

1. It is recommended to contact HP for support when your product is in warranty https://support.hp.com/gb-en/contact

2. You cannot use the steps at the next link below. Your PC will not POST.

 https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Desktops/Fix-For-The-F-57-BIOS-Bug-Which-Causes-Windows-10-amp-...

3. Find a local PC tech who might be able to reprogram the BIOS. Success depends on how the chip is mounted to the MB. This YouTuber, located in England, can do BIOS reprogramming when the PC cannot POST and the BIOS chip is soldered to the MB. Watch video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pyp6XtqbdSU

I update it yesterday and i have exact same problem too so i sent it to service, probably this update broke the motherboard?

Hi @Perttu97

The hardware (MB) is okay. The BIOS update has corrupted the BIOS firmware.

The BIOS should be programable if the BIOS chip is soldered to the MB. It is also possible to replace the soldered BIOS chip if needed.

How did you get in contact with HP? I've tried and no person has replied to my request.

Hi. The updated bios was pushed by HP so I need them to get in contact and sort this mess.

Hi

It is very difficult to talk to a live person these days.

The HP contact link in previous response is all I have. I haven't contacted HP for factory service since 2012.

I'm finally in a WhatsApp chat with tech support. They've asked me to try everything they suggest on the support pages. They are now saying I will need to pay for repair.

This is a great business model. Roll out an issue. Have people install it. Brick machine(s). Charge for the repair. Sit back and count the money.

I am going to complain. Not that I think they will even bother replying but you must have hope.

My computer is two weeks old

Hi @Alipail53

You have three options:

Have HP repair/replace the MB

You replace the MB

Find a local PC tech who can reprogram the BIOS, if possible.

For me, choice three is a no-brainer.

That's all you got!
