HP Pavilion All-in-One - 23-q110na (Touch)

Hi all,

I'm trying to recover or roll back the BIOS on my HP Pavilion All-in-One 23-q110na.
The latest BIOS file (SP93282 – A0.13 Rev.A) fails with the error:

“The System BIOS recovery failed. Unable to open BIOS Image file. Error code: 13”

I'm looking for an older version of the BIOS, ideally A0.07, A0.09, or A0.11, that is compatible with platform ID CRU.

Would anyone happen to have a backup or SoftPaq link (e.g. SP93xxx.exe) to an earlier working BIOS for this model?

Serial Number: 4CH6167T3V
Current issue: BIOS recovery won't load A0.13 and I suspect an older version may still work.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi:

You can find all of the available previous BIOS version downloads by clicking to expand the Revision History tab on the A0.13 BIOS update page at the link below:

Thanks for the help.

One follow up question. I create the usb installation. I reboot and use the Windows-B at reboot. I get the beeps then BIOS Update Failed. It then reboots and shows the bios version still at 0.03. Any help would be much appreciated.

Kind regards and thanks in advance.

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, the only suggestion I can offer would be to watch this video and see if trying to restore the BIOS using this method works.

Hi,

Again thank you, that is very helpful.

I tried that process but apparently it needs a .sig file to verify the bios file. Using HPs tool it doesn't provide the .sig file. Any ideas?

Kind regards,

You're very welcome.

Sorry that didn't work either.

Unfortunately, I have no experience with troubleshooting BIOS issues, so I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

It might be time to take the PC into your local PC repair shop, or buy a new PC.

Best Regards,

Quick update:

The HP Pavilion 23-q110na lives!!!

It all started with a Windows Update on Windows10 Home. It tried to do the latest update and crashed with BSOD

After being pointed to the HP website for BIOS files, downloaded and tried to install them... they didn't work for me as there were no .sig files that are required by my PC to verify the files.

So couldn't update BIOS at all... but found a workaround.

Managed to restore to the default factory BIOS 0.03.

Applied changes and saved the BIOS and rebooted. It started a repair on the Windows 10 Home install.
After a few restarts and black screens it (...don't panic. Just let it do its thing.) It finally booted into Windows. RESULT!

As Windows 10 is being retired in October 2025, I thought I would eek a bit more life out of the pc. So... I tried to upgrade to Windows 11 Home but... it failed. Booooo!

Running 0.03 BIOS but windows complained and crashed with BSOD.

But the good news is I had been here before. Repeated the BIOS step above and all was well with the world again.

So... did some more research and continued with my quest for longevity of the pc.

I found a work around!!!

On Windows 10 Home

Go to Control Panel → Power Options → Choose what the power buttons do
Click Change settings that are currently unavailable
Uncheck Turn on fast startup

Rebooted (again!)

Tried to upgrade to Windows 11 Home again then had another issue... Booooo... hisssssssss!

a bit more research and a new pot of very strong coffee... I continued.

A few coffees later I had a plan!

So... created USB with Rufus and bypassed TPM and Secure Boot checks.

Then reinstalled and all went through ok. Took ages so leave it running... about 2-3 hours to complete. Hussar!

N.B. Microsoft does support this path but won’t guarantee future feature updates but you'll still get security updates and you can still download the features and install them manually.

Now running Windows 11 Home.

Very happy!  😎

Thanks for all the help and support.

Good luck and hope this is of help to others with similar issues.

That's great news, Simmo!

I have all of my unsupported for W11 PC's running W11.

I have used the method you used to do the upgrade but I found this method even easier to do in-place upgrades.

How to Install Windows 11 on Unsupported PC in 2025 (New Easiest Method, No CMD)

One thing you need to be aware of.

Your PC will continue to get the W11 monthly cumulative and security updates but if Microsoft releases a new build of W11 (for example 25H2) like they have done for the last 3 years, you will have to get the new ISO file that comes out in October or November and use the above video or Rufus to update from 24H2 to 25H2 and beyond.

It's not a big deal but a PC that doesn't meet the W11 hardware requirements will never get the automatic update to the next W11 release version.

W11 24H2 will have full Microsoft support into November of 2026.

The reason none of the BIOS updates worked is because they were all for a different motherboard SSID than the one the 23-q110na has according to this discussion:
