Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I’m not sure if it’s windows 10 or 11 but I’m pretty sure it’s 1064 bit and I went on an uninstall frenzy and I realize now that I uninstalled some thing that was absolutely crucial to my computer and now I can’t start it and all I want to do is recover my pictures 😭

I keep getting recovery manager screen but nothing starts of backs up.
I get a message “The type of file system is NTFS”

You may have a couple of problems here.

Were you installing because you ran out of disk space?  If so, then any repair / re-install of windows may need up to 32gb of free disk space.  If you do not have that space available and want to save your documents then you need to swap out the disk drive or copy out the important files to external storage.

To repair your system it is important to know the model, product ID and the OS.

If windows 10 is it the home or the pro version or some other?

Please read through the following.  It assume windows 10 home

https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/repair-windows-10

You mentioned "recovery manager".  I think that is the method 2 above

Were you able to find a restore point?

Are you able to get into the :command prompt" ?  It would be done as shown in method 2 but selecting "command prompt" instead of recovery and then doing the SFC /SCANNOW as shown in method 3

If none of the above work then method 5 is necessary and you may need 32gb of free space

Using another system download the ISO (windows 10 home or 11 pro or whatever matches what you have)

You will re-install windows but specify that all your files be persevered.

It is necessary to know your product ID as HP specific drivers may have to be downloaded to allow the new windows to run.

hi

sorry @BeemerBiker

just in case, sometimes nothing to do, and data can be lost..
so I would advise trying to recover the data some other way, before attempting any reinstallation
if not already too late

You can try several things in order to try to recover your data, I give some explanations here, but in French!

que faire en cas d' erreur / échec dst du disque dur - HP Support Community - 7338574

You can try a bootable cd / dvd type live cd (linux)

https://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-tips/how-to-retrieve-windows-files-using-a-linux-live-cd/

you can try removing the hard drive, in order to connect it to another computer internally, or with a usb adapter!

If your disk is not completely out of order, this gives you a small chance

the possibilities may vary depending on the computer, type of system disk, hdd, ssd sata, ssd m2
