Thanks for your response. I am not sure if you are the same person but thank you anyway, that you contacted HP Support on my behalf. But I recollect many months ago that this was indeed the case. However no contact has ever arised in HP Support contacting me in repairing the incomplete software for setting the LED front lighting. If I am right in thinking that many other OMEN owners are in the same position as I am, they too I am sure will be pleased to hear the news.
Thank you for interest shown in trying to solve this error. Wee man.

@weeman
I responded to separate e-mail thread on Gaming sub-forum about it last week (there are too may threads about the same problem):
https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Desktops/Omen-870-244-OMEN-Control-not-working/td-p/6362184
In essence and to quote what I wrote there:
--
I also did upgrade to FCU eventually last week - and had a time to play with the Omen Control.
(...)
What I spotted is that Omen Control does its job correctly and settings are retained for any other setting than CPU utilisation / CPU temperature. The latter two are forgotten the moment I restart / logoff and revert to penultimate settings I used earlier (some static colour or rainbow or no lights at all).
Also, I've found that when these two schemes are chosen, CPU usage of Windows Defender is increasing to 10%. I did write about it on Microsoft forum earlier this year:
And now I can confirm with 100% certainty that Omen Control / HP System Utility is to blame for this (at least on my PC).
Finally, I started experiencing couple of BSODs out of the blue and definitely can see a clear connection between them and CPU temperature / CPU load scheme in Omen Control. I suddenly started experiencing couple of these last week when I stubbornly tried to keep these schemes applied. I stopped experiencing them when I applied constant 'blue' setting in Omen Control app.

I have said many times since April 2017, that the OMEN LED control software has no ""Save settings facility"" and until this is remedid the fault will remain or alternative small software is written to instruct Windows 10 to carry out this instruction at each close and startup of the computer. Anyone care to write a software suitable?

After reading the other posts, I am using Windows 10 version 1709 and yes OMEN LED control still remains as before. If current OMEN 870 no longer come with the annoying malfunction, then HP at least advise us all as to which wires to cut and not void our remaining warantty months. However as expected, HP could a least come clean and say it was a mistake in designing our computers, don't hold your breath folks this will never happen in a month of Sundays. wee man.

You might try running the Windows Registry Editor -- 'regedit.exe'
and doing a search for settings for any registry-key whose name includes the string 'omen'.
There might be some values for those keys that currently are set as the "default" values.
But, if you change the value (to "what" is the interesting research topic), and reboot, your values may be fetched and deployed.
I suppose that you could "export" the Registry BEFORE you made a configuration-change to the LED settings, do another "export" AFTER you made that change, and then compare the two files, to find any differences between the two '.txt' files.
Good luck!

Hey Weeman,
Did you read what I wrote above?
Omen Control does work correctly on 1709 for all schemes except CPU Temperature / CPU Utilisation (where it does not and lead to unexpected BSODs) and retains settings upon boot / logoff - even though there's no 'save settings' you seem to be insiting on seeing.
All you need is a matching pair of Omen Control application as well as HP System Event utility.
There are different version in ciruclation unfortunately, for example: Omen Control application available on web is older than the one supplied with my PC and available through HP Recovery Manager (and I think this is the version that actually works in my case). I'm not sure about HP System Event utility version, i.e. which of them actually works in my case - I have a feeling that it may also be the original one that I reinstalled through HP Recovery Manager.

Under settings it certainly showed at the time Settings and on competion clicked Apply, in my case Apply was greyed out. To date, it remains non apply, with a manual set up required at each start of computer. Every few days or weeks OMEN LED Control requires re-instal as Control resumes to light sequence only. I wonder how many owners experience this and just put up with it or have simply given up or even cut feed wires to the LED's,.

You kindly noted that I needed two matching utilities : 1. OMENControl App and 2. HP System Event Utility.
I have several sp--- softare saved under HP Utilities. 1. OMEN Control App is not one, unable to find a source.
2. HP System Event Utility, I do have and have installed it, apparently it does nothing or can I gain as to where it is located withing my computer. Your comments on these two mentioned will certainly be appreciated. weeman.
