Seems my hard drive is bad. I think the last time i played with it i was booting external OS from a different drive.

Thank you for your help. The second password has worked fine for me, unfortunately I get blue screen and it doesn`t start.

The only thing that remains, is to get out the HDD and save the data.

I have an HP Mini 1000 with a password coming up before Windows loads. How can I get past this screen?

It doesn't seem to accept certain letters keyed in here such as "e" and "o".

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Connect an external usb QWERTY keyboard and see if you can enter the code using this.

Thanks for the reply. I tried connecting a USB keybaord (that works fine on a desktop PC), then booting the HP Mini and it doesn't appear to recognize it. No caps/Num Lock lights, no response on key press, etc.

 

Any other thoughts?

I've tried many of these bios reset passwords and none of them work .

 

the fatal error code says CNU9142S3F
