@janetnewton

If you enter wrong password 3 times it should give you a halt code. Post that code here:

Can anyone please help with regard to the password?  Im used to windows and always bought another make pc so used to formatting etc. However I see many persons receiving a code. I cannot set up change a password cos g-son wouldnt have known what to do. The software seems to be working fine all but this.  Have I got to reformat it to work?

@janetnewton

If this is Windows logon password there are other ways to clear that, but formatting may be the simplest.

If this is a power on (BIOS) password- formatting the hard drive is not going to clear a BIOS password. You need that Halt code. Once we have the code a password can be generated from it. You would then put in the new code for password- then go into BIOS and make sure all passwords are cleared. In BIOS if there is an unknown password you would use the code given for old password and then leave new password as blank.

Don't have the halt code.  Is that the only way to unlock? Why can't I get into the settings without having to format it?
