Forgotten BIOS Administrator Password – HP ProBook 4540s

 Hello, I own an HP ProBook 4540s. When I try to enter BIOS setup (F10), I am prompted for an administrator password that I no longer remember.

Steps to recreate:

  • Restart laptop

  • Press F10

  • Password prompt appears

Details:

  • No error message, only password prompt

  • Wrong password attempts lock me out

  • No recent BIOS updates or driver changes

  • Running Windows 7 Ultimate

  • Internet connection: LAN

Could you please advise the official steps to reset or remove the BIOS password? I understand this may require proof of ownership and service center support.

Unfortunately, you will need to contact an HP agent for problems with BIOS passwords.

Here is HP's official policy regarding BIOS passwords:

 

According to the Community's Rules of Participation:

 

4d. No posts shall include instructions/directions intended to bypass or subvert security mechanisms such as lock screens, BitLockers, BIOS lock, passwords, fingerprint/biometry scanners, PINs, or any other safety measures.

 

Therefore, this topic is being locked.
