Hello all,
I recently bought a HP Envy 16 with an i7-12700h, 95w 3060 and a 120hz WUXGA display, as an all purpose laptop. Admittedly, I only paid £773 for the machine, but when playing something like Team Fortress 2, that should run completely find without input lag at all, the mouse input choppiness is horrendous. The mouse sensitivity isn't consistent with my other windows 11 laptops, and my windows 10 gaming desktop. I have no idea why this is the case, as all drivers are up to date, and I only use the Logitech G305 wireless mouse, which is always lag input free when playing on any other computer except this HP Laptop. My mouse sensitivity settings on windows and in game are exactly the same on all computers, and i use the Logitech g hub software.
It's a major nuisance as, even connecting to the laptop to my external alienware 240hz monitor, the mouse input is really choppy and keeps jumping here and there. The polling rate is at the highest (1000 per second) within G Hub. I understand this laptop isn't primarily for gaming, but it's cooling system does the job well, and it has components that are more than powerful enough to run games as old as TF2.
I can only presume this is a HP thing, as it's the only computer that has this problem. Use to own a razer blade 15 with a much weaker i7-10750H and 1660 Ti (80W) and that never had a single issue, so it doesn't make any sense how a computer with a 14 core i7-12700H, DDR5 dual channel memory, and a 95W 3060, would struggle with mouse input. Any advice would be much appreciated!

So it turns out it’s related to the Intel Wi-Fi card in the laptop. When playing day TF2 with the built in Wi-Fi card (5GHz band), the stuttering is dreadful despite high frame rates. Upon using a dedicated usb WI-FI dongle (AC1300) the stuttering is reduced by a good 90-95%.
It makes little sense given Intel Wi-Fi cards are usually great, and is usually sought after among those who tend to game.
