Hi @hwsense

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the upgrade of the Display.

You may order the replacement parts on the HP Parts Store, use the HP Parts Surfer to find the part number and If you've already looked for it and couldn't find it on the HP Parts Store, you may want to get it locally at the online store such as Amazon or eBay, etc...as the part numbers are universal.

Alternatively, I suggest you talk to HP support, and discuss your options, follow the below steps to get started:

1) Click on this link

2) Click on Sign-in or select the product using the below step:

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Click on "Show Options". Fill in the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!

Also, if you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty, if yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from, here's how private messages work: Click here for details.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you, I already tried to search on the parts site based on the laptop model, but nothing came up, thats why I was wondering if I can find the part number and search by that, most times that is much more accurate than looking up a model. Thanks again.

After the generous help by expert Praveenbv, I narrowed it down to this display part number - L71939-001

This is the one with 30pin connector that should be 100% compatible with my model and at the same time it is an IPS with 250nits brightness, much better compared to the TN panel that the laptop is coming with. I will post future updates with the screen swap.

There is another screen - L25331-001, with similar specs, but I am not sure what is the difference between both, and if one has an advantage over the other, the L23331-001 is much cheaper too, half of the price of the L71939-001.
