My printer suddenly stopped printing black ink although the ink level indicates it's fine. I've adjusted the cartridges, cleaned the heads both with the option on the printer and with alcohol/hot water. The other options I see online resort to taking the printer apart to fix it. Any other solution that doesn't require me to dismantle the thing?
The only odd thing I find is that I cannot figure out where the check box is to make it print in color or even grayscale.
Thanks for the help.

Thank you for your response. I tried all the suggested solutions and they did not fix the problem. I am out of warranty and to get help I would have to pay $65. I decided to buy a new printer instead since the price difference was about $30.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
