Installing a 2700 for a neighbour. Got wifi working using HP SMart on phone (seems to be the only way that works!) and had problems with the inks.
1. do the new printers come with inks installed or bagged? (from Currys; I always thought they came bagged; neighbour thinks they were already in the printer. Unlikely methinks.)
2. inks with new printers. Do they have the words "instant ink" on them or not? I believe not.
3. will the 2700 work with 304 inks or 305 only? Is it possible for a new 2700 to come with 304 inks by mistake?
The problem was the neighbour had "304 instant inks" in the 2700 and it took me a while to realise they should (must?) be 305s.
He claimed the 2700 came preinstalled with "304 instant inks" from Currys.
He DID have a spare 305 black which worked first time but no colour 305 around. If he rings instant ink up will they send a 305 colour?

I have heard (actually read) various opinions about Currys - "No comment" seems the best option.
If the printer came with ink installed in the printer, it was not, in my opinion, a new-sealed-in-box product.
New Printers do not come with installed ink cartridges - leaking, damage, drying issues -- returned or demo product, perhaps?
The the cartridges might be Instant Ink compatible, that is, they can be initialized with an Instant Ink subscription for the purpose of using the cartridges with that subscription. In my experience, Each cartridge will be marked as "Instant Ink Ready", for example. "Instant Ink Ready" are not "Instant Ink" cartridges until -- and if -- they are initialized as part of an Instant Ink subscription.
The printer is marked with the cartridges it uses.

The cartridges are available in regular and XL sizes -- the "compatible products" includes your printer.
Check the ship dates - some cartridges are available sooner than others...

Instant Ink is a Print-by-Page subscription Plan
- Ink is included at no extra cost to the monthly plan costs.
- Instant Ink is Optional - you do not need a subscription to use your printer.
- You do need a subscription if you want HP Instant Ink to send ink.
- Ink is not sent monthly - ink is sent when the printer notifies the service that ink is needed.
- There are different plans for different needs.
- Yes, if the user subscribes to Instant Ink, ink is included as part of the subscription at no additional cost to the selected Plan.

What is an HP Instant Ink Platinum subscription?
HP Instant Ink Platinum is a printer subscription program with an all-inclusive monthly payment. This payment includes the printer, 24/7 hardware support, next-business-day replacement warranty, and CarbonNeutral usage certification. The subscription also includes a new printer every two years.
