How do I tell Instant Ink my three year old ink cartirges have stopped printing and get replacemen

Have you ever had a day when all your printing comes out faded and washed out because your three-year-old cartridges have dried ink over the ink ports and Hp will not let you order replacements because the machine reports them as almost full? So how do I bypass all this stupid troubleshooting that doesn't cover anything close to my issue?
