Can you help me with this, please. I have recently inserted 3 new HP colour cartridges and a new HP double-sized black cartridge. The black one has not worked from the outset. Now, having tried all the various  solutions, all 3 colour cartidges are showing low ink, despite not having been able to print any proper documents yet!! This is unacceptable!

Welcome to HP support community.

Provide the printer model number or the product number?

Which operating system is installed on the computer to which this printer is connected?

Reply with the requested information for more assistance.

Cheers.

Welcome to HP support community.

Make sure that the cartridges are properly vented and seated correctly

  1. Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already turned on. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before continuing.

  2. Open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves to the access area.

  3. Press the tab on the front of the cartridge inward to release it, and then pull up on the cartridge to remove it from the slot.

  4. Examine the vent area on each cartridge, above the HP logo on the top of the cartridge.

  5. If the cartridge still has the orange pull-tab attached, pull to remove it.

  6. If the vent is clogged, use a straight pin to gently remove excess adhesive from the vent.

    3. Unclogged vent

  7. With the nozzle and contacts facing down, slide the cartridge into its slot. Press down on the cartridge until it clicks into place.

    NOTE:

Make sure that each cartridge is installed in the correct slot. Match the shape of the icon and the color of the cartridge with the slot that has the same shaped icon and color.

  8. Repeat these steps to inspect the vents on each of the cartridges.

  9. Make sure that each cartridge is firmly in place in its slot. Run your finger along the top of the cartridges to feel for any that are protruding, and if any are, press down firmly until each cartridge snaps into place.

  10. Close the cartridge access door.

  11. Try the print job again.

Really! I assumed you were HP Support! This link takes me to the page where I started this conversation. There is no 'show options' and no web form to complete. I take it we all have to go and replace our HP printers with alternatives from your competitors. Very dissatisfied with HP support.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.

Did you ever get help with this? I have a brand new black ink cartridge as well and it is not working. My color cartridges are printing fine but not the black so I was wondering if you got a resolution to this.

HP Officejet Pro 6978, Windows 7 Home Premium. New ink cartridge installed. All troubleshooting suggestions tried.
