I have a HP MFP M577F. Since the High Sierra update I get the same error.
ERROR: undefinedresult. OFFENDING COMMAND: xshow
Tried all updates, latetst printerdrivers etc.
Nothing helped.
Printing PDF's is most annoying.
From Word I can use an other font.
I hope that there will be a solution soon form ?? HP/Apple??. Taking too long guys.

14 pages already and still no reply from HP? Even from a tech guy?
Does it really always need to get to threats and the ultimate class action suit for those guys to start moving?
Can't we just simply get a support person on this to start getting this fixed once and for all in a civilized way?
HERE US! We are owners of HP printers who can't use them because of a software bug! A SIMPLE SOFTWARE BUG!!!!
Man... Kind of like shouting in the desert...

As I have said before, the HP support person that was dealing with my case said that the time for a fix to be delivered will to some extent will depend on the number of customers with the problem.
It think that the most effective way of saying you have a problem to HP is not reporting it on this forum, but opening an HP case of your own. The more of them there are, the sooner we will get a fix…
If you have an HP Passport Account, sign in and create a case. If you don’t, create an account first: https://hpp12.passport.hp.com/hppcf/createuser.do?hpappid=hppcf&lang=en&cc=us&applandingpage=https:/...

Just a reminder as many people report problkems printing pdfs: Use Adobe Acrobat (Reader is sufficient), Print/Advanced and print as image. Cf. https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/quick-fix-print-pdf-image.html . We are not aware of any problems printing this way.

I see lots of new traffic on this issue.
Just to reiterate what was stated previously, there is not a driver version that will resolve this issue.
This issue can only be resolved one of two ways:
1. When new firmware is available for your printer, update it. You can open a case with HP Support to make sure you are notified as soon as the update is available.
2. There is an OS update that addresses the issue.
The only reliable work around seems to be to print the document to a PDF (Save as PDF) and the print that through Adobe Reader using the "print as image" option. Which I realize is not ideal.
I know this is currently a big headache for everyone. We are working on the printer firmware fix as quickly as we can.
Once a public release of firmware is available for the majority of these products or an OS update is available, I will update this post.

@IronBadger Thank you for the update! That's encouraging to know that HP is aware of this issue and trying to update firmware where possible. We are experiencing the same issue on another HP printer, not the M533d, with our HP Color LaserJet flow MFP M880.
Does your update here, as for HP working on potential firmware updates, apply to the M880 (and other similar printers) as well, or are you only working on this for the M533d?
Thanks!
