Hi level,
This is just a light for your convenience, so that you can see what's in the output bin. It does not affect the functionality of the printer.

I understand that, but this light is embedded into the scanner assembly which would be quite expensive as part to replace it as a whole. Try reseating every cable and connection from the scanner assembly to the scanner control board and see if that resolves this flickering.

Also, I forgot something. Do you connect your printer directly in a wall socket ? If not try that also.

We had a similar problem on a Color LaserJet Enterprise MFP M577. In our case the flashing / blinking sensor light under the flatbed assembly would come on over the output bin the instant that the printer went to sleep, and would only stop when it came awake again.
This was starting to drive anyone working near the printer crazy. At a time when the printer should've been quietly asleep this light was constantly flickering on and off.
I saw this proposed solution and dismissed it as dubious, but later realised that our printer was indeed plugged into a power board and in desperation changed over to directly plugging into the wall and voila, the constant flickering has now stopped.
Worth a try if you aren't plugged straight into the wall.
We are on Australian power (i.e. 230V / 50Hz). I can't surmise why our printer flickered in the opposite manner to the problem described here (i.e. flickering when sleeping vs fickering when waking) but I thought I would throw that in.

Thank you Squiggle,
It is always a good idea to try things even as "dump" as this. It is easy to just give it a go.
