Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281cdw
macOS 10.14 Mojave

My color LaserJet Pro MFP M281cdw has been working great - until I tried to print some photos.  When I hit print, everything seemed to work as it should... the dialogue box says "printing - connected to printer" and the blue status bar starts to fill.  It then switches to "Ready to print". The screen on the printer reads "printing document".  But nothing happens! Nothing gets printed.  The job pauses on my computer - so I hit the "resume" button - and get the message "Printing - The printer is in use."

To test the connection, I tried printing a simple document from the same computer - and the document was printed easily.  I also ran a wireless network test report, and everything was fine.  I sent these same documents to my wireless Canon black and white printer - and they printed without an issue.

I should also note - I tried rebooting my computer and turning the printer on & off - but no change...

May I know which App are you using to print those photos?

I suggest you update the printer Firmware. You can refer to this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

Next try printing from Preview and let me know if that prints

Please follow the instructions in this Link: https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/preview/prvw15175/mac

Keep me posted 😊

I was printing from photo Preview on my Mac and then I posted the image on a slide and tried to print from PowerPoint with no luck.

I then tried printed the same images from Pixelmaker - and it worked fine.

This could be an application specific issue. Check the print settings on the application you are trying to print.

Refer to this document to know more about the print settings.

Check for any software updates on MAC

Click here to know how. If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

Re-install the printer using AirPrint driver and check if that helps.

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.

Select AirPrint from the Use menu

6.) Try to print.

Let me know how this goes.

Could you try printing that image using another browser?

Also download the image onto your Mac and try printing. Let me know if that works
