During the prepare to install stage before I have connected the printer I get at 85% on the blue extracting bar: ERROR A problem occurred while preparing to install softwar on your system. Please restart your computer and run this installer again. If the problem persists, please check the product support website for your product.

I have been all through the suggestions including downloading the latest software, checking that the printer spooler is running and on automatic - nothing works. I have urgent ptinting jobs to do and this is most frustrating!

Hi,

I had this problem just today. It took me a while but I have made it work.

First I changed the Print Spooler to MANUAL (in services.msc).

I then ran msconfig. Went to the services tab and checked the box to hide all Microsoft Services and then I disabled ALL of the remaining services, saved and rebooted.

I ran the software as administrator and it worked.

I think the main thing is the msconfig step but I had done all of what I listed above.

I am going to install it then change it all back to normal.

Hope this helps

Douglas

What or where is this? Print Spooler to MANUAL (in services.msc).  I have been 8 hours on the phone to HP. Help me please. I need step by step, how to get this m175nw to work.  I have 3 computers , 2 windows 7 and 1 XP.  I can not get any of them working with the printer. Thank you.

HP should really sort this out.

First I changed the Print Spooler to MANUAL (in services.msc).

Depending on what Windows version you have Go to

Start>Run and type services.msc

or Start>Search and type services.msc

Scroll down to print spooler and right click and go into properties.

Under Startup type select manual. Click Apply then ok and exit.

I then ran msconfig. Went to the services tab and checked the box to hide all Microsoft Services and then I disabled ALL of the remaining services, saved and rebooted.

Start>Run and type msconfig.exe

or Start>Search and type msconfig.exe

in MSconfig go to the services tab and check the box to hide all Microsoft Services. Then disabled ALL of the remaining services. Save chsnges and reboot.

To run the Setup program as administrator right click on the icon and select run as administrator.

Once installed go and re-enable all your services and then change the print spooler to automatic.

Hope this helps.

Thank you. I let them try that today. It did not work.

So I called complains 1-650-1501. I talked to a lady named Evonne, she is sending me a new printer. The

HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw.

It was bigger than what I wanted, I like the size of the m175nw. But this is a up grade, for the 8 hours on the phone and all the stress. I hope that this software works for the new one. Thank you. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE.

The new came it was used and did not work also. The software woul not install again. more than 20 hours on the phone and 12 days.  About 9 day's in I got someone in the USA named Tom he got my laptop to print. But the desktops are not it warranty, so he could no work on them. Also there are diff dept's for desktops and laptops. I try to fix the desktop and mess up the laptop. Hours on the phone no one could fix the laptop again . Then I push some buttons on the printer myself and the laptop work. You would think that anyone of them people should of be able to tell me to do that. OH WELL. Sometime I think they just want you to gave up. They tranfer me from the computer dept to the printer dept even when I tell them not to, then back agian.  Now I told them I can tell the new one is used they are sending me a new one ( I hope ). Also I hope it will work on all 3 computers or it is back on the phone again and agian and waiting for the to call me back 24 to 48 hours later. Just hope that I will be home when they get around to calling me again. This sucks. If I do not get someone in the USA I can not understand them and they do not listen to me or they do not want to. Oh email the CEO does help. Here we go again.
