Your paper trays and application settings are out of synch.
Take a look at the paper tabs and configurations on the printer. Print off a configuration report to confirm what the printer is seeing as its physical configuration.
Then take a look at your PCs printer settings. On windows 10 this would be the devices and printers area. Enter the printer properties area and review how the trays are configured at this level.
Finally open up the applications you are printing from and review the application printer configuration. Individual apps and individual documents can attempt to override the PC defaults.
Match up everything correctly and the printer will stop bugging you. Until you find the odd part the printer will continue to ask you to confirm you have everythign loaded correctly before it prints.

Thanks for the response. I printed out a configuraton report and see that it says Tray 1 is letter size and plain, but tray 2 is envelop #10 and any type. Not sure i have a tray 2! but used to get tray 2 jams that really didn't exist.
My printer preferences are for letter, printer auto select, unspecified paper type and gneral everyday printing.

The Laserjet Pro M452dw does have two trays:
http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-color-laserjet-pro-m452dw
Tray one is a small 50 page multipurpose tray. Tray 2 is what is normally considered the plain/white paper tray and can store 250 pages.
See the user manual for a more accurate description of the trays and thier locations. Locate the appropriate trays, reconfigure them as needed and you should be good to go.
User Manual:

Page 16 has a description of the multipurpose tray. Its a flip down tray on the front, on top of the normal paper tray 2.

This obviously sounds dumb, but i could never find the manual for the printer. I only thought there was one tray! so i thought tray 2 was tray 1. Looking through the manual i saw how the front cover drops down and reveals what is really tray 1. I was always opening up the front cover and seeing the toner tray.
Thanks again.

Double click your HP Colour LaserJet Pro icon (usually on your Desktop)
Select "HP Device Toolbox"
Select "System"
Change "Tray size prompt'" to off
This should solve your problem of always having to choose your paper size every time you open the tray
