Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

We sent a print job to the printer and then the screen on the printer showed "Programming" and since then it has been printing one line of random characters on each sheet of paper, even shutting it down, unplugging it, disconnecting it from the network has no effect, as soon as it boots back up it starts printing again with the single line of characters.

Anyone have any idea on how to clear this or reset the printer back to factory, or is it time to just toss it and move on!

Power off the printer and clear all the print queue.

Power on the printer and re-print. Will it still print anything? I think it is not if so your PC must have something print to the printer which haven't been deleted off...... Find it out and delete them all. Re-boot PC whan it go to ready go finding print uqeue and delete. Remember not to plug any other line inte printer except to the power line until then you really delete any queue left.

Another way is to reset another IP address on printer and add new printer on PC and use this one if it is steady.

Yeah that was the first thing I tried, I even unplugged it from the network to make sure that nothing was being sent to it and it still keeps printing, there is nothing in the JOB Log to delete.

Unplug all the lines from the printer and plug into the power line and power on.

Will it still print anything? I think it is not. So your

Did that before I even posted here, it should have cleared anything that was printing by unplugging, letting it sit for a bit then pluggin it back in, but it did not, still prints even after that.

OK.

Unplug the net line and reset a new IP address on printer then plug the net line back.

Add a new printer on pc see what will happen.

If it's OK then use this IP address and never mind the old one.

Tried that also, and it still keeps printing the single line of random characters.

In that case the only reason that i can tell is the WiFi.

Had you ever tried to Cold Reset (Restore Default) or NVRAM?

If not maybe you shoult do it now.

The WiFi is disabled and I have Reset the system, I even reapplied the Firmware Update, but to no avail, still does not fix it, at this point I have given up and am ordering a new scanner, copier, printer and it is not going to be an HP, as this is the third HP Printer like this that has failed to work after just over a years use.

Have you tried to do a Restore Default or even NVRAM?
