Check with Apple on this one.  

 

Sounds like a normal WiFi configuration issue for the iPad more than something to do with the printer or the HP software.

A such might also occur due to connecting the printer using Wi-Fi Direct without connecting the devices to your wireless network.

 

Be sure to clarify your printer model.

Additionally, do you have a wireless network at home?
