Hi @mrchromite1978

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I read your post that your HP printer is showing not compatible with USB 3.0. I am happy to look into this for you!

What type of HP printer do you have? How Do I Find My Model or Printer Number? Example: HP Photosmart 7520.

To confirm the printer's hardware is functional, are you able to make a copy with the printer's scanner glass? (If the printer has a scanner.)

In the meantime, please try a hard reset, by following the steps in this post, How to perform a Hard Reset, by @Rich1. It is important that the printer's power cable is plugged directly into the wall outlet, and not a surge protector.

If you are able to reach some resolution, please click on Accept Solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. Both icons are below this post.

Hope this post helps! 🙂

Sir/Madam,

My ancient HP p1006 Laserjet has performed flawlessly through three computers, from WINXP through WIN10PRO-64. After the latest Windows update, the printer stopped working, telling me a USB 2.0 printer will not run through a USB 3.0 port. Obviously, I blame the Microsoft update.

I have tried ALL of the recommended "fixes," and the result is the same. The printer pretends to print the document, but NOTHING is in the print cue!

Is there a cheap ($100-$150) monochrome laser printer in the HP stable with USB 3.0?

Office Max, Wal-Mart, and Target have only USB 2.0 printers.

My desktop is wireless. Should I give up and look at wireless printers?
