@EvBeer, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If you're experiencing issues with your HP DeskJet 4222e All-in-One Printer indicating that it's "not available" when printing from an Android phone or tablet, here are some steps to troubleshoot the problem:

Verify Network Connection:

  • Ensure both your Android device and HP DeskJet printer are connected to the same wireless network. This is essential for the devices to communicate.

Check Printer Status:

  • Ensure that the printer is turned on and ready. Check if there are any error messages displayed on the printer’s control panel.

Samsung Print Service Plugin:

  • If you are using the Samsung Print Service Plugin, make sure your printer supports it and is Mopria certified. For a list of Mopria-certified printers, you can visit the Mopria site.

Ensure the Plugin is Enabled:

  • Check that the Samsung Print Service Plugin is enabled on your mobile device. Go to Settings > Printing (or Settings > Advanced Settings > Printing) and enable the service if it is not.

Clear Print Spooler Data:

  • If the printer is still not detected, try clearing the print spooler data on your mobile device:
    • For Android 5.0 or earlier: Settings > Application Manager > All Apps > Print Spooler > Clear Data.
    • For Android 6.0 or later: Settings > Applications > Application Manager > More > Show System Apps > Print Spooler > Storage > Clear Data.

Manually Add Printer:

  • If your printer is not detected automatically, you could try adding it manually using its IP address:
    • On your mobile device, go to Settings > Printing (or Settings > Advanced Settings > Printing).
    • Select Samsung Print Service Plugin, tap the three dots icon (or Menu icon), and choose Add Printer. Enter your preferred printer name and the printer's IP address.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
