I accidentally disabled all settings while on a co-worker's Mac. How do I fix this? Restoring to default factory settings has not helped. Also, do I need the computer that I did this from to fix it? Thank you.

Please help! my office is paralyzed without our printer.

@a_d_k, Thanks for your quick response and time.

I appreciate your efforts for tyring out the steps.

As you mentioned when you print a configuration page you are getting an error "Networking capabilities are not available.

Check if the wireless button on the printer is enabled.

Try the steps recommended below.

However, to answer your question about resetting the printer to factory defaults, this is possible by accessing the front menu on the display.
Turn off your printer.
Wait for 10 Seconds before turning it back on again.
Just as the printer turns on, press the back button (arrow icon) on the front panel of the printer “4 times”.
If you do it correctly, the support menu should appear.

Also, try performing a semi full reset on your printer if the issue still persists.

Since the steps to perform semi full reset is confidential I will send you the steps in a private message.

Please watch your inbox for more information.

Hope this works!

Take Care! 🙂

Hey there! @a_d_k, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand you disabled admin settings on your printer and now you are unable to get back into settings.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

As you mentioned even after performing factory settings on your printer you are unable to get back into settings.

First, try performing a hard reset on your printer and check if it helps.

Resetting the printer can clear the error message.
Turn on the printer.
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the printer. If your printer has a network or wireless connection, leave it connected.
Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
   NOTE:
HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to a wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.
If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.
If you disconnected the USB cable, reconnect it to the rear of the printer.
Try to print.

Open the HP Embedded Web Server by using a network connection
   NOTE:
You cannot view the embedded Web server pages from outside of a firewall.
Identify the product IP address or host name.
If you do not know the IP address for the product, it is listed on the Configuration page. See the user guide that came with your product to see how to print a Configuration page from the control panel.
Open a Web browser.
In the Address or Go to field, type the IP address that is assigned to the product (for example, http://192.168.1.1) or the host name (for example; http://www.[your_server].com).
Once you are in the EWS page you change try changing settings for your printer.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Have a great day ahead! 🙂

Thank you, Mr Robot. We tried all of the restart process of unplugging and removing cartridges, but did not work.

We are unable to find the IP address because the wireless of the printer was also disabled. When we print a configuration page to find the address, it says "Networking capabilities are not available."

I also tried going through Windows and looking at the printer properties, but there is no ports tab or anything refering to the IP address.

From the printer screen, I also tried to print a Wireless Test Report and that is not even showing as an option in Settings>Reports. The Web Access Test Results just says that "The printer is not connected to a network."

Thank you,

Thank you so much! The partial reset from the support menu was enough.
