Hello, I have an OfficeJet 9120e. It works great, the quality of prints is better than I expected of an inkjet and the HP Smart App is really good. But of course there is a but…
Try as I might, I cannot get AirPrint Anywhere to work. I have gone through the HP Smart App countless times, and done the Troubleshoot AirPrint. This normally produces it test page without any issues (while not connected to my local network).
The problems start, when I try to use AirPrint remotely, there seems to be a number of things that happen, or don’t happen:
- After selecting Print, the only printer that shows up is pips://printer.roamprint…….. etc If I choose this printer, after a few seconds it just disappears again. If I select the i icon in the available printers list, I just get a spinning wheel ‘gathering supply information’, followed by ‘Information Not Available’
- Other times, after selecting print, the expected printer shows up under ‘Known Printers’, selecting the i icon here will display the ink cartridge status
- I can send a document to this Known Printer and I go into the iOS Print queue I can see the document, which will show as printing pages 1 of x. But the bar never goes across and the document disappears from the print queue. If I then go into the HP Smart App, no jobs show up as ever needing collection (set to private print)
I am completely stumped. I’ve tried deleting and re-installing the HP Smart App I’ve deleted the printer and factory reset it and set it up a few times. Nothing seems to fix this, I have only successfully had 1 document actually go through via remote Air Print.
I honestly don’t know what else to try. Hoping someone out there has the answer 🙂

Welcome to the HP English Community --
Application and Software Names matter -
Print Anywhere as it relates to the HP Smart application is a thing.
"So fussy!"
True - and here we are.
On the surface, acquiring and setting up Print Anywhere can appear complicated.
So Important
Print Anywhere setup is much less complicated when it is understood that Print Anywhere (at this writing) is available on select printers after HP+ service is accepted and enabled. Read everything, every morsel, about HP+ (included later in this message) -- then decide whether and how you want to proceed. HP+ is a permanent service and warranty related addition to your printer. HP+ is not a subscription, it is not "something to try" and then cancel. Read, then act.
The naming convention used with each of these parts is important.
If you are interested in HP Smart and Print Anywhere, the following information is relevant.
Skip over anything you don't like, don't need, or simply cannot stand.
All is offered FYI.
If something does not make sense - ask! I will help if I know the answer.
- Introduction -
Print Anywhere is a newer technology that is replacing old ePrint on select printers.
Print Anywhere and the older ePrint tech share some of the same underlying structure.
Both applications support remote printing directly to the printer.
Both applications support the concept of "owned printers", and account owner, and Invited Guests (Allowed Senders).
Once acquired as part of having accepted and enabling HP+ service, Print Anywhere is accessed (used) from within HP Smart.

Requirements for HP+ printers
This topic describes the requirements for HP+ printers.
Keep the printer connected to the Internet
HP+ printers are cloud-connected devices that must remain connected to the Internet in order to function. The
Internet connection enables the printer to deliver HP+ specific app features and firmware updates.
During setup, you must connect the printer to the Internet using a supported network connection. After setup,
you can print using a USB cable connection, if desired, but the printer must still be connected to the Internet.
Use Original HP cartridges
Original HP cartridges are cartridges manufactured and sold by HP in official HP packaging. If non-Original HP
supplies or refilled cartridges are installed, HP+ printers will not operate as expected.
Have an HP account
