my devices say "looking for printer" or "no printer found" but if i restart the router it works -- temporarily. This happens with ALL devices using wi-fi, so its not about the wireless set up or the computer.
This happens on all devices, all mac and PC laptops and all iPhones in my house, so i know the problem is not with the computers. If i restart my modem/router, the printer will work for a short period of time (my computer can see it) but after a while, it disappears again. The printer works fine, the wi-fi is fine, there are no problems that can easily be troubleshooted and again, the problem is not with the wi-fi or the computers. Since it works when i unplug and plug back in the router, you can see that the wireless is working fine and the printer is working fine. Any ideas?

Welcome to HP forums, I see that you are getting printer connectivity issues.
Update the printer firmware.
Refer this HP document for the steps to update the printer firmware:- Click here
Run wireless setup wizard to connect the printer again.
1. From the printer control panel, touch (Wireless).
2. Touch ( Settings ).
3. Touch Wireless Settings.
4. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard.
5. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.
Let me know how it goes.

Hi @Sandytechy20, the printer says i have the latest update. (although it does say update not firmware. )i followed your instructions and then i also did restore factory settings but it still says "printer is not connected" I'm actually surprised it doesn't need an update because its a little old, in electronics terms. Any other suggestions.

It looks like you were interacting with @sandytechy20, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out.
Assigning a manual IP and disabling IPv6 on the printer may resolve the issue. Here is how to do it:
1.) Use the steps available here to assign a manual IP for the printer.
2.) From the printer control panel Home screen, touch (Wireless) and then touch ( Settings ).
3.) Touch Advanced Settings.
4.) Locate IPv6 setting and set it to Off or Disabled.
5.) Restart Printer, Mac, PC and iOS devices.
6.) Try to print.
Keep me posted!
