HP Officejet 6100
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I got a new modem/router, and am trying to get my Officejet 6100 connected wirelessly to the network.

During setup, I got this error message: "The WPA security passphrase you configured on your HP printer does not match the WPA passphrase used by the wireless router.  Configure the printer using the correct WPA passphrase."

I typed the correct passphrase.

Printer was previously connected to the network and wireless printing worked fine.

I uninstalled and re-installed the printer several times, but nothing worked. Same error message.'

Router info:

Model: TC8717T Vendor: Technicolor Hardware Revision: 1.1 Serial Number:  [personal information removed]
Processor Speed: 600 MHz DRAM: 256 MB Flash: 128 MB

Hi @WendyV1,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are unable to connect your HP Officejet 6100 All-in-One Printer to the wireless network.

This issue could occur if the wireless setup is not correct.

Let's go through a few steps to troubleshoot this issue.

And here's the step by step guide for you in the link: Wireless Printing From A Laptop, Phone, or Tablet

Let me know how this works.

You have a good day ahead.

Your answer was not helpful at all. You obviously did not read or understand my questions.

  1. I set up my printer using the correct procedures. - I used the step-by-step instructions on the scree.
  2. The printer could not connect to my wireless network because it said the WPA password was incorrect.
  3. I entered the correct password. I know this, because I created the network password only a few minutes before trying to set up the printer.
  4. I've uninstallled and re-installed the printer software several times - still does not work.

My operating system in Windows 10, 64-bit.

I'm just going to buy a new printer because HP obviously does not emply knowledgable technicnians.

Hi @WendyV2,

Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that the issue still persists after following the steps provided in the previous interaction as you get the message that the WPA password was incorrect

Please follow the link to check the WPA password: Find Your Wireless WEP, WPA, WPA2 Password (Windows)

You have a good day ahead.

I am having the exact same issue. What is the recommended security level? WEP, WPA or WPA2. Will HP be putting out drivers to support WPA2?

Greetings @Machong

Thanks for the post.

I understand that you are unable to configure your printer on your computer over wireless.

Not to worry, I will be glad to help.

Have you tried to configure the printer over USB?

What is the operating system installed on your computer?

Have you tried to install the full feature software of the printer on your computer?

Are you using a dual band router?

Recommend you configure the printer as USB first by downloading and installing the full feature software of your printer from www.hp.com/drivers

Once the printer is working fine, please refer to this HP Article to convert the USB setup to wireless without you having to enter any wireless passwords.

Let me know how it goes.
