Officejet Pro 8100
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I recently upgraded to Win10 (the free upgrade, I don't know how many bits). I also then changed wireless provider. Now my laptop will not connect to the new hub, and it seems as though there is no driver anymore - so I don't know if both of these changes are the problem, or only one of them.

I have tried to install a new driver, and initially I started the process, but the printer would not print the report pages, and then the laptop would not recognise the USB cable, even though it had been plugged in the whole time. I tried removing the cable and reinserting it; also turning the printer off and on, but this did not work.

I also called Virgin, and with them reset the hub, but the hub still did not connect to the printer.

Now when I go to the hp drivers page and it identifies my product, it then tells me there are no drivers for this printer right now, and I should check back later in case they are in development.

I cannot believe this is true. Can you please give me a link to a page where I can find and install the driver?

Can you also please explain why the USB cable is not being recognised?

Thank you.

Thank you! In the meantime, I managed to find the basic driver and install it. But as the printer still wouldn't find the hub wirelessly, in the end I connected the printer to the hub via ethernet.

Now that is done, will it be possible to set up wireless? What should I do to do that? Thanks!

If you don't want go through the uninstall/reinstall process, you can add a printer to a wireless network just as you add a computer. You can manually enter the SSID and password on the printer's control pane, under "network settings"

Thank you Charles. Unfortunately my printer control panel doesn't work . . . I wish I could send you a screenshot, but basically, although I have now printed successfully, and there is a green tick beside the image of the printer, when I click through I can't see any button called Network Settings, and when I click on Set Preferences or Customize Printer and choose the printer from the drop-down menu I get an error message:

Printer Properties cannot be displayed. DOuble check the printer name and make sure the printer is  connected to the network.

When I click on 'HP Printer Remote' I get two images of the printer, each with a red Offline sticker.

I can try uninstalling and reinstalling tomorrow, but what should I do if I get the same messages? Thank you.

Hi,

You may connect it wirelessly thorugh the EWS Page of yoru printer, then unplug the cable:

  1. Click on Computer to open File Explorer, then select Network from the left pane.
  2. Locate the shown printer, right click it and select View Webpage.
  3. Open the Networ tab.
  4. Under Wireless click on Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the steps on screen.
  5. Once done unplug the ethernet cable and the ble wireless light should solid lit, which indicate it is connected wirelessly.
