Deskject 3512
Chrome OS

WIth my old service, my deskjet 3512 connected to my wifi via a Gateway router and all was blissful. With my new service in a new state, the arris modem would not accept the Gateway router and thus I have no WPS button and the modem has no USB ports. Also, since my only computer is a Chromebook, I can't download drivers or modify the printer setup via PC or MAC.

Any advice on how to get my printer onine?

Hey @Thrillcheese,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I hope you enjoy your stay here.

I understand that you are trying to connect your Deskjet 3512 All-In-One Printer to your network using your Chromebook. I can help you with that.

Here's how we'll connect the printer to the network:

  1. On the printer's main screen scroll down to Settings and press OK.
  2. Scroll down to Wireless and press OK.
  3. Scroll down to Wireless Direct and press OK.
  4. Scroll down to On (No Security) and press OK.
  5. On your Chromebook under networks you should see an option appear with a name similar to HP Print XX Deskjet 3510. Connect to that network.
  6. In your address bar type in 192.168.223.1 and press enter.
  7. Click on the Network tab.
  8. On the left hand side under Networking you should see an option for Wireless Setup Wizard.
  9. Run the wireless setup wizard to add your printer to your network.

After this the printer should be connected and you should be able to print. Please let me know if this resolves your issues or if you have any other questions. Otherwise, have a great day!

I am using the previous posted fix for setting a HP 3512 Deskjet up on wifi and still cannot connect wireless.  I have a Mac Sierra.  It is currently connected via USB to the 3512.  I have verified the printer is connecetd to my wireless network with an address of 92.168.223.100.  My Mac is connected and running on my wifi network.  The network is via a Belkin wireless router.  The printer will not connect wirelessly.  When I press Eprint on the printer panel it responds with " The printer could not connect to the internet".  I did run the hp.123 setup for Mac El Capitan, Yosimite,,...

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

As I understand the printer doesn't work on the MacOS Sierra,

Please download and install the HP Easy Scan App to see if that will allow you to scan from the ADF.
Use the HP Easy Scan App.

·         HP Easy Scan

If an item is loaded into the ADF, HP Easy Scan automatically defaults to the ADF as the source. To manually select the ADF, open the Presets menu, select Edit Settings, then select Document Feeder from the Source menu.

·         Apple Image Capture

In the Scan Mode menu, select Document Feeder.

·         HP Scan

If an item is loaded into the ADF, HP Scan automatically defaults to the ADF as the source. To manually select the ADF, click Scan, click Show Details, select Document from the Type menu, then select Document Feeder from the Source menu.

I also suggest using the Apple Scan while you wait for the HP software to be updated. You can use the following link to confirm your printer is still compatible with your OS:

Riddle_Decipher - The problem is that my HP 3512 will not print wirelessly after upgrading to Mac OS Sierra. It will print via the USB cable, but not wirelessly.
I installed EasyScan per your suggestion. It works fine, but does not resolve the issue of not being able to print wirelessly.
I can print via the USB cable, but not wireless from either my Mac running Sierra or my wife’ s Mac running El Capitan.

Thank you for the update and the clarifications,
I appreciate your time and efforts,

First thing you might want to do is ensure this printer is compatible and if it is, ensure you've downloaded the latest compatible drivers for your MacOS:

Review Mac driver type availability by printer model for Sierra, El Capitan and Yosemite. Click the link under Recommended driver or Additional driver options for steps to install the driver.

Depending on the age of your Mac and printer, you might need to scan in a different way after the upgrade. For more information on scanning, go to Scanning from a Mac Computer.

If you want to install the driver now, use the following methods:

  • Go to 123.hp.com, enter your printer model number, then follow the on-screen instructions to install and set up the printer.

  • Download and run the HP Easy Start app to install and set up the printer.

To quickly locate your printer model in the following tables, click or scroll to the section for your printer, and then press the Command and F keys. When the search box displays, type the printer model number to automatically find your printer: Click here for information

Once you've confirmed the above, follow the below steps to setup a wireless connection:

Step 1: Prepare for the installation

Step 2: Restore printer wireless settings to factory defaults

Step 3: Download and install the driver

Step 4: Set up the wireless connection

I reset the 3512 to factory defaults.  (By-the-way: 3512 is listed as a compatible printer for Mac Sierra)

I went ran hp123 for 3512 Deskjet ePrint All in one and downloaded HP Easy Start.

I removed the USB connection on the 3512 to force a wireless connection.

I ran HP Easy Start and it responded, "No devices have been found"

I verified I the 3512 has Wireless ON and Wileless Direct On

     - When I press the Wireless button on the 3512 I get:

          IP Not Connected

SSID: N/A   (information advises it should begin HP-Setup)

        MAC address

        Wireless Direct: On

How dio I resolve the SSID entry?  That's where I am definitely stuck.

Thank you for the update,
I appreciate your time and efforts,

Check the router band setting: Many routers can operate in both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz frequency bands, but not all HP printers support both bands. Make sure the 2.4 GHz router band is enabled and broadcasting. If the router broadcasts separate network names (SSIDs) for each band, connect the printer to the 2.4 GHz band SSID.

This is maddening.

Following the Printer Not Found proceedure I cycled all power as instructed, and the software found the printer.

I went through the setup and it even printed the test page.

However, I just tried a simple test print and the printer queue says " The printer is not connected"

Then below the print bar., " Printing - The printer is offline"

Wireless and WSireless Direct are both on.
