Hi,

I had assumed that you had an envy 4500 printer. Your F4580 is not AirPirnt enabled and this is wht it's not seeing the printer. My apologies - I should have double checked he printer model earlier.

It will only work with HP ePrint, the HP print service plugin for android and HP print for chrome. Working through chrome on your IOS device might be your best bet.

I've inlcuded a link below with some info on print for chrome

Thank you for your reply.

forums say that you can not change the default browser on an IOS device so although it may be possible  to install Chrome for iPad, I guess (naively) that I would have to open all my apps e.g. Email in a Chrome tab to be able to access the printer. I haven't even thought of how to access my Word documents on One Drive to get them onto a Chrome tab to be able to print them.

all in all. This may be the only solution but I find it is not user friendly (considering the amount of knowledge I have) and everything I have on my iPad using Safari.

maybe HP will rethink their withdrawal of support for IOS on HP ePrint - please. It wasn't broken so why fix it!?

thank you for your attempts to help.  I guess a new printer will be added to the 'Wish' list but sadly it won't be an HP one.
