Hi All,

Just after some advice regarding this printer. The idea was for the printer to be mobile so it can be taken with the staff member, connected to the wifi where they are and then the group they are presenting to can do printouts to it via their ipads (using AirPrint).

This all works well 'in-house' connected to our wifi network. Have set up the printer wirelessly via the software installed on their laptop (using a temporary USB cable to transfer the settings to the printer) but is there an EASY way to change the wifi SSID/Password when they are out in the field?? I know you can hold down the 'wifi' button on the printer for three seconds (until the wifi light flashes) then hold down the 'WPS' button on the reuter/access point and they link but that's only if WPS it's available and that the staff member can access the reuter/access point.

They will have their laptop with them and USB cable to be able to re-configure SSID/PASSWORD but seems a bit long-winded having to go through 'connect a new printer' for each location they visit. Is this the right way of doing it or is there another 'easier' way that I've overlooked. I'm also assuming here that the printer remembers SSIDs/PASSWORDS so it only has to be set up once for a particular location and then will 'auto-connect' if they return?? Is that correct?

Any help on this is very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Andy

Not the printer for what you want to do.  Here is the User Guide for you to read on your wireless options.

You will need to run the setup software each time to connect.  You might try Wireless Direct so other can connect to the printer.  You need a printer that has a full front panel for configuration so you can easily change SSID's.

Either way, everyone will have to load the software in order to use the printer.  It may auto connect, but don't count on it.

Thanks for the help. I did read the specs for the printer and it didn't mention anywhere that it would need to be set up for wireless via a computer if the reuter had no 'WPS' button.

As I say, once connected the printer is great - automatically appears in 'available airprint printers' on IOS so people can print to it from their devices without having to install/do anything so from that point of view it does the job perfectly. It's just a pain having to run through the whole 'connect a new printer' setup thing each time - feels like there's something missing from the software - y'know, an option in the software to change printer network (with USB attached) and can quickly select new SSID and PASSWORD without having to run through the whole printer setup wizard to get to the bit where you eventually set the SSID/PASSWORD.

Ah well, I'll know for next time

This types of printers should not exist.
