HP OfficeJet Pro 8610
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

An averaged sized church installed an HP OfficeJet Pro 8610  (WiFi network connection).  There are two (2) PC's.  The 8610 was set up first to print from the Secretary machine (WIFI network connection).  The print test was successful.  The printer was next successfully set up on the Pastor's  machine.  The print test was successful.  Next, the Secretary machine lost connection to the PC and  it could not be restored.   Using the HP software attempts to re-install the printer on the Secretary machine were successful and ended in an error message "unable to setup device" (the printer was removed before reinstall).  The HP software appeared to recognize the PC and showed its details including IP address.   The Pastor's machine can print to the printer.  Users can print over WIFI using a smartphone (the current workaround has the Secretary emailing the document to herself and then printing from her smartphone ( via WIFI).  One attempt to re-install the printer included cable connecting to the network.  No luck.  After opening "Devices and Printers" from the Control Panel, the HP 8610 shows up in faded form.  Attempts to open "Printer Properties" to confirm the correct driver were unsucessful.

Solved the problem myself  as follows: Windows 10 --  Search “Printers & Scanners” in the search bar next to the Start button.  A window should pop-up listing all the printers & scanners available to the  PC.  Scroll down and uncheck “Let Windows manage my default printer”.  Problem solved.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting the issue.

If you encounter any printing issues like, printer is offline, no printing, print job disappear, no printer found, scan issues etc,

you can download the HP Print Scan doctor from HP website. It will diagnose and fix the problem for you.

Here is the link
