Hi @AC12331534613,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To factory reset your HP Color LaserJet MFP M283fdw and regain access to configure it with a new WiFi password, you can follow these steps.
- Access the Control Panel: On the printer, navigate to the control panel display.
- Navigate to Setup Menu: Use the touchscreen to locate and select the "Setup" menu. It may be listed under options like "Administration" or "Preferences".
- Restore Factory Settings: Within the "Setup" menu, look for an option such as "Restore Factory Settings", "Restore Defaults", or "Clear All Settings". The exact wording may vary slightly depending on the printer's firmware version.
- Confirm the Reset: When prompted, confirm that you want to reset the printer to its factory settings. This action will erase all current settings, including the WiFi configuration and admin password.
- Wait for Reset: The printer will then proceed to reset itself. This process may take a few minutes.
- Setup Wizard: After the reset, the printer will restart and prompt you to run the setup wizard. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the printer again, including connecting it to your WiFi network and setting a new admin password.
- Set New WiFi Password: During the setup process, you will have the opportunity to enter the new WiFi password for your network.
- Complete Setup: Once the setup is complete, your printer should be connected to the new WiFi network with the updated settings.
By performing a factory reset, you'll erase any existing configurations, including the forgotten admin password and WiFi settings, allowing you to start fresh with setting up your printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
