HP Deskjet 3636 cannot access Wi-Fi

Hello,

Yesterday I changed my Wi-Fi password and now my HP Deskjet 3636 printer cannot access the Wi-Fi network.

I've tried the following:

Start the HP Deskjet 3636 software and go to configure the printer on wireless setup.

When I choose the SSID and fill in the password I get a answer back: SSID cannot be found / FAIL

Even when I place the printer in front of the router. Other devices can access Wi-Fi.

The printer works on USB and was working fine on Wi-Fi untill I changed the password.

I've tried configuring the printer with another laptop, but also gives me the same error.

Also ive tried to install a firmware update but when I run that setup I can see my printer but cannot click on it and it also says firmware status unavailable.

- I also tried the Print and doctor software but no results.

- I have tried to factory reset my router still no results.

- I tried to hold the Wi-Fi button and X button for 3 seconds untill the Wi-Fi settings reset but not results.

Today I'm going to bring the printer to another Wi-Fi network with a different router and see if it works on an another Wi-Fi network (different router)

Do you guys have any suggestions?

I understand you are having issues with Wi-Fi Connectivity on your HP DeskJet 3636 printer. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

The following steps temporarily disconnect network and Internet connections and require restarting your computer. Complete any tasks or downloads in progress before continuing.

1. Press the Power button on the printer to turn it off.

2. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

3. Disconnect the power cord from the wireless router.

4. Turn off the computer.

5. Wait for 30 seconds.

6. Reconnect the power cord to the wireless router.

7. Wait for 30 seconds, or until the router is fully on and ready

8. Turn the computer back on.

9. Wait for the computer to reload

10. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

11. Turn the printer back on.

Let’s try assigning a static IP to try and fix this issue. Follow the steps below:

• Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
• Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
• Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
• Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
• Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
• Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

Once done, reinstall the printer drivers. Follow the steps below:

• Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
• Go to Control Panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Envy printer entries and uninstall them.
• Restart your computer.
• Now click on  http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/dj3630/DJ3630__Full_WebPack_1107.exe to download and install the updated printer drivers.
• In the connection type window, select “Wireless” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Thank you for your reply.

You mentioned I should obtain the IP-adres of my printer by touching the wireless button on the printer and check the IP-adres on the control panel.

However the HP deskjet 3636 only have a small display where it don't show the IP-address.

Also I tried to connect the printer at my friends house with a different computer and Router (Wireless Network) and when I tried to connect the printer to the Wi-Fi network it showed me the same error that the SSID name is not found.

I've bought the printer in february and still have warranty, maybe I should contact HP for warranty.

I appreciate your time and efforts,

I'm glad you pointed out as I might have overlooked at it, don't worry as I have few steps which should help you resolve this issue.

First thing, I would suggest here is to perform restore network defaults on the printer.

I would suggest you install the printer using the USB cable and then convert the USB connected printer to Wireless to get it connected to the network. Here are the steps:
 

1. First, click on  http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/dj3630/DJ3630__Full_WebPack_1107.exe to download and install the printer drivers.
2. In the Connectivity tab, select "USB"
3. Connect the USB cable and finish the printer installation.
    

If you want to change from a USB to wireless network connection, use the Printer Setup & Software utility that installed with your printer software:

1. Search for the printer name, and then click the name of your printer.

   The printer software opens.

2. Click Tools, and then click Device Setup & Software.

3. Select the option which says "Convert a USB printer to Wireless"

4. Follow the onscreen instructions and complete the installation.

Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!
