Hi, I am hoping someone can help with my issue. We recently purchased a Envy 4500 and it installed fine on my laptop. It prints well. I have had friends find it on their mobiles and printed documents too. However I have installed the software on my husband's laptop but when it goes to print it will print a blank page. When I click 'print' a box flashes briefly on screen saying 'printing about.blank'. He has tried using a different browser (he currently uses Firefox) and that has not worked. We have uninstalled and reinstalled but it is still the same. However he can print an HP test page and it is fine. Does anyone have a similar issue?

Hello @cupcakeuk,
Thanks for the reply.
Perform the steps mentioned to reset the internet properties first.
Once done, try and print using the internet explorer. If that works, go to http://hp.care/2ghtqI7 for steps to reset the firefox.
Hope that helps.! Cheers 🙂
Feel free to click on the "Accept as Solution" button and the "Thumbs Up" for my assistance. Please let me know the results and if there is anything else I can help you with. Thanks!

Hi@cupcakeuk-Greetings!!
Welcome to the HP Forums.
I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
I understand you are having issues while printing from your Notebook.
Let’s first try to fix this issue using HP Print and Scan Doctor (PSDR). PSDR is an automated tool which can diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems.
Please go to http://hp.care/2bZ9w2q to download and run HP PSDR.
Once you open the program, click on “Fix print ” to automatically diagnose and resolve the issue.
Please complete the steps and let me know the outcome.
I'll be eagerly waiting to assist you with same,
Cheers:)

Hi Sizzlingsum_13, thank you for your response. I have downloaded the PSDR and followed directions to 'Fix Print' and have printed test page which is fine. However when I try to print from the web it shows printing 'about:blank still. Therefore the print is just a blank page with header/footer. If there is anything else I can try please let me know.

Hi again.
I have managed to print a document from Word and it printed ok.
However still not printing anything from a web page.
When I select 'print' from a web page it shows a preview page and then I select print it shows 'about:blank' still.

Hello @cupcakeuk,
Appreciate your efforts.
Since the issue only while printing from web, I would suggest a reset on your internet properties and then on chrome. Follow the steps below:
- Press the “Windows key” + “R” to get the “Run” window.
- Type “inetcpl.cpl” and press ok to get the internet explorer properties.
- Go to “Advanced” tab and select “Reset” option to completely reset the internet explorer.
- Now open the internet explorer and try printing from internet explorer.
If the internet explorer is working fine, continue with the chrome reset:
- At the top right, click More (Three horizontal dots) and then Settings.
- At the bottom, click Show advanced settings.
- Under the section "Reset settings,” click Reset settings.
- In the box that appears, click Reset.
Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!
Good luck 🙂

Hi DVortex!
Many thanks for your input I will certainly give it a try.
However the laptop in question is running Firefox. Should I take the same steps with Firefox as you have mentioned for IE above?

Well I have done as you have suggested DVortex and with Internet Explorer so far so good! However with the Firefox reset I have tried to print from Web and when I click 'print' on a recipe, it brings up two boxes. The Print box to the left and another box asking me to choose what Firefox should do with the file. I have to cancel the left Print box and click Open with.... on the other box. This takes me to Adobe Reader page where I can select print. It brings up a Print box there with different settings for me to choose. I can then print successfully!
However I would like to know if I can somehow deselect the first Print page to save me from keep cancelling it? Any ideas?
