HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Nothing prints all of a sudden and no OS or other software changes have occurred.  It's a recent/2021 Dell desktop running Windows 10.  Printer is online, wireless light is solid blue indicating it's attached to our home wireless network, any/all Windows printer insights indicate ok as well as the HP Smart app/utility.  Everything looks good.  However any attempt to print, even just a simple Word doc with "xxx" in it, fails.  After clicking Print, it takes about 30 seconds, then a Windows pop-up box indicates printing error occurred.  Not super descriptive.  And then the printer status in Windows indicates "error" too.  I have run diagnostics and everything indicates ok so I give up.   May need to call HP tech support but wanted to try this forum first.  Thanks for any help you can offer.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did you make any changes to your printer?
  • Are you able to print from other devices?
  • Does the copy print out the same way?
  • Have you tried printing from a different application or device?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, and press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till the warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
