I just moved this printer from one location to another. I have the printer connected to the network - but I am unable to enable web services. I just keep getting a Service Connection Error that says "There was a problem connecting to the Server."

I've looked for solutions on the HP site - but none of them have worked for me.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi again LuAnn_Freund,

Try the same steps that eunicerocksify suggested, but try these DNS settings;

  • Primary DNS Server = 209.244.0.3
  • Secondary DNS Server = 209.244.0.4

If those do not work, I would suggest speaking with HP's Cloud Support Team to get this issue looked at first hand by an agent that can log onto your computer. I understand that you are posting on the Forums for a reason, but since you only have today remaining to work on a resolution, speaking with them would be best.

Hello LuAnn_Freund,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I see that you have problems getting the B210a connected to Web Services at its new location. Is the printer able to connect to the network to allow printing?

It would seem that the printer is on the network, it is just not getting the connection out through the Internet. When you moved the printer, is it now setup on a different router? If so, try having the ports in the router opened up. Review the ports here: Check the Anti-Virus for Blocked Ports and Timed Scans, under Web Services Ports.

Let me know if this helps.

The printer is on a different network/router. I cannot print unless connected via USB cable.

If I run HP Print and Scan Doctor 4.5 - it says the printer is visible and says its IP address is 192.168.1.250. (I had configured it this way at the previous location to get it to work!)

However, once I click on Next to work with that printer - it can't find it.

Also - if I go to 192.168.1.250 in a browser window - it can't find it there either.

I've followed the steps to power cycle the printer and router and still get the same results.

Also - if I go to my router's control panel and look at the connected devices - the B210 printer is not there!

I will try the steps you sent me to open the ports and report back...but thought this additional information might be helpful.

Thanks,

LuAn

Thanks for the follow up information, I have a new suggestion / thought. You mentioned you had to set the I.P address manually to get the printer to work on the prior network, this information could be causing the issue. When a manual I.P is set on the printer, it will hold this until YOU restore the network settings.

When you moved the printer to the new location, did you restore the setting and setup the printer from scratch? If not, on the printer, touch Setup (wrench in the right corner)> Wireless Menu> Wireless Settings> Restore Defaults. The printer will now be back to an automatic state for network connection.

Run the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer to connect to the network and then test print. If the print is successful and remains successful, there is no need to apply the manual I.P again.

Cheers,

Thank you for the additional information. I restored the wireless network defaults and that has solved my ability to print wirelessly to the printer!! THANKS!!!!!!!

I still can't get Web services enabled - I still get the Server Connection Error "There was a problem connecting to the Server."

I can get to the EWS now - so if there's something I can do from there maybe it's an easy fix. If not - I may just let it go for now!

Thanks again!

Hi LuAnn,

On the Embedded Web Server of the Printer, Go to the Network tab, go to Networking then Network Address

Click on Manual IP then suggest a Manual IP Address. On the DNS Address configuration type 8.8.8.8 on Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 on Alternate DNS Server. After changing the settings, powercycle the printer then try enabling web services again.

Let me know if it works 🙂

Unfortunately, that did not work.

I will only be at the location where this printer is for today - after that I will not be physically located where it is - - - which is why I wanted to be able to print to it using the email address of the printer. If I can't get it resolved today - it just won't be able to be used.

It worked when I changed the DNS settings as follows:
    Primary DNS Server = 209.244.0.3
    Secondary DNS Server = 209.244.0.4

Problem solved!!

Thank you!!!!!!

tHi. I am having all the same problems as LuAnn_Freund, and I've followed all of the previous steps listed above, until I got to changing the secondary DNS server to equal 209.244.0.4. When I do that, it says, "The IP address entered is invalid. Previous IP address will be restored." Setting the primary DNS server equal to 209.244.0.3 worked just fine.. What do I do?

UPDATE: Nevermind! I got it working.
