Hello everyone.
I'm a newbie to this forum and an getting very frustrated with this issue. I can't seem to find the smart app which works with my new printer (LaserJet MFP M234sdw). The app store says I need macOS version 11 but Catalina (macOS version 10.15.7) is the latest version supported by my hardware. I've tried the HP virtual assistant which was . . . . . . . not helpful. I can't find any live chat options or a phone line number to talk to a real person. How do I get this printer connected and working. Please advise me.

Did HP release a bot to eradicate earlier versions still lurking out in the 'net?
Certainly not.
That said, when a version is replaced in the App Store for a platform (for example, MacOS, Mobile - iOS / Android, Windows), HP does not -- at this writing -- continue to offer earlier versions of that application. If the practice changes, the App Store source for the particular application will include the information.
That does not mean an earlier version is not out there somewhere -- it simply means that HP does not provide the service you seek.
Remember to practice caution when downloading anything from unknown sources -- the Internet is a wonderful resource and can be dark and dangerous, too.

Even were we to offer the type of "live chat session" support you seek, there is no workaround for installing an application or software on an unsupported version of the Operating System.

Thank you for your reply.
I'm actually looking for an earlier version of HP Smart. I know that earlier versions did support Catalina. printer was bought on the basis that it supported macOS. (not macOS ver 11 or higher). I just can't find any download for Smart that is earlier than 17. Does it exist or has HP sent out bot to eradicate all earlier versions. I don't really want to do the "basic driver' solution if there is another solution.

Thank you for clarifying this. This looks like HP are just ignoring this issue. It would be simple to have a link for the previous versions as a support for customers. This HP policy seems somewhat blinkered. I would have been better investing my hard earned cash in another manufactured who do value customers with more regard by providing wider support for older hardware. Obviously not your problem but thanks again for your support.

I do not need to have my phone involved in my printing. I use the printer for home personal needs only - like printing a bank statement or occasionally some art work online. But everyday I get at least two sessions of double messages on my phone to choose a payment plan for the app on my phone. How do I stop this? Should I just mark it as spam????
