Hi, I am having a issue where I am not receiving a email from the HP smart app on my iPhone X and I have done this many times to try and get the verifcation code to enable remote printing on my phone. I have tried multiple things like,
- Waiting over 24 hours
- Redownloading the app
- Restarting my phone
- Restarted the app
- Changed connections between different ISPs
I have had no luck for a while and was wondering if anyone knows what could be the problem with only getting the email.

Hey there! @ScarSH, Welcome to HP forums.
I understand you have issues receiving the verification code from the smart app.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
What is the IOS version you are running?
Are you trying to print remotely using the HP smart app?
As you mentioned you are printing remotely using the HP smart app. HP smart app does not support printing remotely.
You have to use the HP eprint service to print remotely from your IOS device.
Turn on Web Services on your printer. Obtain the printer's email address
Print with HP ePrint
The HP ePrint service handles print jobs by sending documents and photos securely to the printer via email. You can send print jobs from your computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone as long as you have an active Internet connection and an email account.
Make sure to review the following HP ePrint email requirements before you print:
-
Type the printer's email address in the To: field.
If there are additional email addresses in the same field as the printer's email address, the HP ePrint server cancels the print job. For additional recipients, type the email address in the Cc: field.
-
Type a subject in the subject line. A blank email subject line might cause the HP ePrint server to cancel the print job.
Email subject lines do not print.
-
The total size of the email must be 10 MB or less, including attachments.
-
No more than 10 attachments per email print job.
-
The following are supported document file types: text (.txt), PDF, HTML, Microsoft Word (.doc and .docx), Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt and .pptx), and Microsoft Excel (.xls and .xlsx).
-
The following are supported photo file types: .bmp, .gif, .jpg, .png, and .tiff.
-
Photos must have a horizontal and vertical resolution of 100 pixels or higher.
-
Digitally signed, encrypted, or password protected documents are not supported by HP ePrint.
-
OpenOffice files are not supported by HP ePrint.
-
Duplex printing (printing on both sides of the page) is not supported by HP ePrint.
-
You cannot print email attachments without printing the email also.
-
Time stamps from the HP ePrint server do not accurately reflect when the print job was created or printed.

Q. Did you make any changes to your printer?
A. The only changes I have mad was Asigning the printer to my HP connect account and connected it to my WiFi.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. What is the IOS version you are running?
A. I am running iOS 12 beta.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. Are you trying to print remotely using the HP smart app?
A. I can't even print remotely without getting my verification code, and I haven't recieved my email for the code for a while to even allow me to even try.
I also see that you stated that you can't print remotely, but in my printer settings on the HP smart app I have a option to print remotely using eprint directly to my printer, and that's what I am trying to set up here and I'm getting nowhere because of the email I am not recieving. I have some images to show what I am seeing.
Thanks. If I have mistaken something such as the remote printing option please feel free to let me know.

@ScarSH, Thanks for your quick response and time.
I appriciate your efforts for sharing pictures and details.
As I mentioned in my previous HP smart app does not support remote printing. However, it uses eprint services to print remotely.
And you don't need a verification code to print remotely. All you need is your printer email address when you enable the web services on your printer.
Note: The HP eprint app has been discontinued for IOS devices and I'd suggest you first remove the app from your iOS device. Restart the device once done. If you are unable to remove, restart the phone and then try to remove the app from your device.
Obtain the printer's email address.
After you turn on Web Services, wait for the printer to print the Get the Most out of Your Printer or Important Printer Setup Instructions page. The information page contains information about Web Services and includes either your printer email address or the printer claim code.
Occasionally there is a delay when printing the information page. If you turned on Web Services, but the page does not print, wait 5 to 10 minutes. If it still does not print, turn off Web Services, and then turn on Web Services again, to obtain a new information page.
Locate the printer's email address on the information sheet, and then continue to the next step.
Examples of a Printer Claim Code
If a printer email address does not display on the information page, the printer's email address is the printer claim code in addition to @hpeprint.com. For example, 87ajush35evfl@hpeprint.com.
Then you can use the email address of the printer and print remotely using any email client.
