Hi @SethMFowler,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY 7640 E-All-In-One Printer displaying a "Printer is Busy" error message while trying to print from your iOS device, it can be due to several reasons. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:

1. Restart Your Devices

  • Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart Your iOS Device: Power off your iPhone or iPad and then turn it back on.

2. Check Printer Status

  • Clear Print Queue: Sometimes, the print queue might be backed up. Go to the printer's control panel, and clear any pending print jobs.
  • Ensure Printer is Connected: Make sure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iOS device.

3. Update Firmware and Software Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Printer Firmware: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. You can do this through the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel.
  • iOS Updates: Make sure your iPhone or iPad is running the latest version of iOS.

4. Use the HP Smart App

  • HP Smart App: Download and install the HP Smart app from the App Store. This app can help you manage print jobs and might provide better compatibility with your printer.

5. Reset Network Settings

  • Network Reset on Printer: Reset the network settings on your printer. This can usually be done from the printer's control panel under network settings.
  • Reconnect to Wi-Fi: Reconnect your printer to the Wi-Fi network after resetting the network settings.

6. Check for Conflicting Devices

  • Other Devices: Ensure no other devices are trying to print at the same time or have active print jobs that might be causing the printer to appear busy.

7. Print from Another Device

  • Test Print: Try printing the label from another device, such as a computer, to determine if the issue is specific to your iOS device.

Steps to Print a Return Label from Your iPhone

  1. Open the Email: Open the email containing the return label on your iPhone.
  2. Download the Label: If the label is an attachment, download it to your device.
  3. Open the HP Smart App: Open the HP Smart app.
  4. Print Document: Use the app to select the downloaded label and send it to the printer.
