Does HP have an interface cable to connect an old DeskJet 350 portable printer to a new HP Pavilion laptop, Model 15?

Hi @MacD3,

Welcome to HP Support Community!

We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊

The HP DeskJet 350 is a very old portable printer that primarily used parallel and infrared (IrDA) connections, or sometimes a USB-to-parallel cable via a special HP adapter (like the HP C3396A).

Your HP Pavilion 15 laptop almost certainly does not have a parallel port, and likely only has USB-C and USB-A ports.

Your Options:

  1. USB-to-Parallel Adapter Cable
  • You can try a USB-to-Parallel (IEEE 1284) adapter, widely available online.
  • However, these cables often do not work well with printers, especially older HP models, because:
    • They don’t support bi-directional communication well.
    • No drivers may be available for Windows 10/11.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved, and if you feel this reply was helpful, click “Yes”.
