HP envy 7640e all in one printer, scanner and fax
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The printer will not print from computer after installing Norton core. Printer cable is on att modem. Computer cable removed from att modem and attached to new wifi network on norton core.  Scan doctor wants me to uninstall printer. which I have not done at this time. Not sure what to do. I have not tried the scanner to see if it works. I also have VPN from Norton. I pay HP $3.20 each month for ink refills. I did try to print from internet but went into quelch(sp). Support told me to hit windows ke y and r and then I restarted printer spool. Rebooted both computer and shut down printer. Started both but would not print. Should I just connect printer to norton core? Now remember I am 71 and not very technical on computers. This is a wifi printer, I think. I have an IP address to printer. Need some help, please. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank You.

I have saved your solution for use if my wifi printer stops working. You were correct. The solution was easier than I knew. I did resarch using the hp 123 information. Finally found that I did not have cable to my wifi printer to my modem. Simply went to wifi connection on printer and changed to my Norton Core Network and put password in and saved. Printer and scanner is working fine and I am able to print from smart phone to wifi printer on my Norton Core Network. Thank you for responding to my post. Lot of time trying to solve printing since I am not a computer person.  I also downloaded hp smart app from microsoft so that I hope information goes to HP instant Ink subscription. Trying to secure the wifi network with Norton Core Network. Only using wifi connection for computer, tablet, smart phone and printer. I hope this Norton Core Network will be all I need, plus Norton security. Again, Thank You for the information. woodpine

Hey there! @woodpine, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand you have issues printing wirelessly from the printer.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Are you able to print using a USB cable?

Are you able to make a copy from the printer?

Have you replaced the router recently?

Excellent description and a great diagnosis done. It is greatly appreciated.

Try the steps recommended below.

Uninstall the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.

In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
Select your HP printer.
Select Uninstall.
In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
Click on Drivers tab.
Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
Select OK.
Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
Close Devices and Printers.

Update the full feature printer software using this link. Click Here

Also, update the printer firmware and check if it helps.

Also, I'd suggest you assign a manual IP address and also disable the IPv6 on the printer. Here are the steps:

•    Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
•    Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
•    Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
•    Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
•    Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
•    Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

Also, If the issue persists please try the steps recommended below.

Restart the computer, printer, and router to resolve any error states present during the printer setup.

   note:

The following steps temporarily disconnect network and Internet connections and require restarting your computer. Complete any tasks or downloads in progress before continuing.

1.Disconnect the power cord from the router.

2.Turn off the printer.

3.Close all running programs on your computer, including the HP software installation window, then shut down the computer.

4.Reconnect the power cord to the router, then wait for the Internet activity light to display a normal connected status.

5.Turn on the printer.

6.Turn on the computer.

7.Try installing the HP driver and software again.
