I cannot connect my new Google Chromebook to my new hp LaserJet Pro P1102w printer.
The Chromebook requires an address that ends in @HPprint.com. I have been trying to find out how to register for that email for at least an hour. Can anyone tell me how to do it? I'm ready to box this thing up and return it. Thanks.

Hi allglory4him,
Welcome to the HP Support forums. I understand that you are trying to setup your Laserjet P1102w to print to it using Google Cloud Print.
To connect this printer to a wireless network you will need a traditional computer not the Chromebook. The embedded web server where you would enable the web services to get your ePrint setup can only be accessed once the printer is connected to the wireless network. And the only way to connect it to the wireless network is through the setup using a traditional computer which supports printer drivers.
If have access to a traditional computer I have included a document on how to install the printer onto your wireless network. Once it is connected to the wireless network, please use the document about getting the claim code to activate the web services on your printer. I have also included a document on customizing the printer's ePrint email address to make it easier to remember. Once you have that completed you can now setup your Google Cloud Print. I have also included a document about Google Cloud print for your reference.

I'm sorry but this is ridiculous (on HP's, Staples', and Google's part). This is now the second printer that I have hauled to and from Staples only to find that each time I require a separate computer to set up the printer and act as a temporary or permanent bridge to the cloud print. I am very sorry but the majority of people cannot afford two computers and this entire process should be easier. Google and Staples both advertise that all HP printers are chromebook ready "out of the box." They were designed to work with chromebooks I was informed. The box out of which it should be ready for should be the one it is shipped with the printer, and not a second box that came with my supposedly common-place second computer I am expected to have. I am now going to have to take this printer back to staples, look like a fool again, and try and navigate this stupid situation to find a printer that will work. I would greatly appreciate it if you can reccommend a printer that I can connect to my (acer) chromebook without having to purchase another computer and follow a very difficult process first. Regards, Neil

I am trying to connect a toshiba chromebook to an HP LJ Pro 1102W. I followed all the steps on http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03550536
up to
- If Web Services is not enabled, click Enable. An information sheet prints that has your claim code.
However when I click ENABLE I get an error message
Connection error. Check Internet connection.
Needless to say, both my computer and the printer are all successfully connected to the internet, the only function that does not work is clicking ENABLE under the HP Web Services tab.
So I'm unable to proceed with the steps for connecting my chromebook, which is very frustrating after spending 30 minutes sorting through all these multiple steps.

Hi @kevinkan,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I see that you are getting a connection error message when trying to enable the web services for your Laserjet P1102w printer.
Please ensure the printer is up-to-date with its firmware. If you are unsure how to check I have included the Getting the Latest Firmware and Product Updates document to assist you.
Once you are up-to-date with the firmware, please set a manual IP address and manual DNS servers for the printer. The steps on how to set a manual IP address can be found in the Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection document. For the DNS servers please use 8.8.8.8 for the Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for the Alternate DNS server. These are Google’s public DNS servers.
Please let me know how things go.

I agree with Neil. In any case must I have the printer permanently attached to a traditional computer or can I use a friends computer to download the IP address, update the firmware and return it to my residence???
Thanks

Hi @Aricept,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I understand that you need to update the firmware on your HP Laserjet P1102 printer.
I would recommend having your friend bring their laptop to your residence to update the firmware of the printer. That way you wouldn’t need to change the network connection of the printer.
I would also check with your school to ensure that they allow printers to be connected to the wireless network that is available in your residence. Many schools prevent printers from being connected to the wireless network available in the residences.

The missing piece of information is that after you have:
- Setup the printer via a USB cable on a Windows (or perhaps Mac/Linux) PC,
- Enabled the web services from the printer network control panel,
- Registered for HP ePrint,
You then need to enter the printer's HP email address from this page:
http://www.google.com/cloudprint/learn/setup-hp.html
This information was not presented in any HP literature or program that I could find. A highly stressful and aggravating user experience in all. HP needs to learn from the installation experience of Chromecast.
