HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw

Hello All,

I'm back with my recurring printer nightmare:  My laserjet pro MFP M283 fdw won't stay online. I have attempted all of the standard solutions -- restarting computer, printer, WiFi connection, and router, and I have installed what I believe is the latest firmware. The problem continues sporadically -- sometimes the printer works after one of these fixes, and sometimes (as now), it does not.

Again, this is not just a matter of the printer reporting as offline once. It reports as online and "Ready" until I try to do something (anything -- scan, print, etc.!), at which point it has an error and goes offline. Recommendations beyond "restart something" (I've tried that repeatedly) would be most appreciated.

Thanks for your time and attention!

Hi, were you able to solve this problem in the meantime? I have the same issue; thr printer is regularely offline when I want to print something. any advice or experience from your side?

One thing to try if you are using WIFI to connect. Create a separate SSID on your router for 2.4Ghz networking and only allow the printer to connect on that SSID. While these printers state 5Ghz compatible, many are using an older chipset that is not completely compatible with newer 5Ghz routers and wireless gear. Also check the type of port that is configured for your connection. Often during initial setup for network printers it will be configured on a WSD port and recovery from communication drop outs is spotty with this type of network port. You will find much better performance if you configure the driver to use a standard TCP/IP port.
