HP Photosmart 7520
macOS 10.14 Mojave

My photosmart 7520 works very well. Recently, it started not printing documents wirelessly with my Macbook Air (It still can print from my iPhone). It shows "looking for printer" and can not find the printer. I deleted an old HP printer from my computer setting, it worked for a day then same problem reocurred.  The steps I took: reset my Macbook, router and the printer; then, I  removed the printer from computer printer setting. In the attempt to add it back, it is not available - enter the IP (from the printer Web Service screen) selecte "Air Print" protocol and "auto select" did not find the printer, when use "selected  software" Photosmart 7520 is not listed (only Photosmart 7520 Fax is listed). The printer update is current. Wireless Direct is On. WiFi in the house is good. But printer has "Server Conection Error" error message - "unable to connect to Web Services" . How do I add my printer back so my computer can find it?

A warm welcome to HP Forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

I understand you are not able to print from your Mac and I'll be glad to help you out. However, for an accurate solution, I would need more details:

What's the make and model of your WiFi router?

Approximately how far is the printer and Mac located from your WiFi router?

Could you check for WiFi interference and also perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results. Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by touching the wireless icon on the printer display.

Appreciate your response! Asus RT-N66U  - Using it for 3 years, updated the firmware a few months ago, working well. It is about 30 feet in another room (on the same floor) from the printer there are hall ways and drywalls.  I took the Mac Air to the printer while having problems. As far as I know, WiFi is good and I can print from my iPhone. Ping test results:

Ping has started…

It looks like a ping test indicates a 100% packet loss. It's possible that the wireless router is blocking or not able to forward multicast packet (Bonjour). Please contact your internet service provider or router manufacturer and check if the router is able to forward multicast packet. If the router is able to forward multicast packets then use the steps available here to troubleshoot the connectivity issue.

Keep me posted!

I contacted my router's tech support, it check out alright. From the Help link you sent me, I found out that the new OS 10.14 Mojave update on my computer was the culprint. HP Photosmart 7520 software needs to be 'updated' to allow users like me to continue print wirelessly. This was confirmed by Apple Support. (That's why the software/driver for photosmart 7520 is not available for install). How can I pass this info to the proper department for HP to update the photosmart 7520? In the meanwhile  can you guide me on an easy  way to do a wired print? Thanks for your help!!

As per this document, HP Photosmart 7520 is compatible with macOS 10.14 Mojave if its setup with Apple AirPrint. You may use the steps below to setup the printer with Apple AirPrint:

Please ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with it's software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer and Mac software:

Update printer firmware

Update software on Mac

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button  at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.

Select AirPrint from the Use menu

6.) Try to print.

It's very assuring to know that Photosmart 7520 is compatible with Majove. My printer firmware is current. iOS is 10.14.1. When following the set up printer with AirPrint, steps, after click + (step 4), there is no printer names listed for me to continue.  Further checking the status on printer, "wireless and wireless direct" are on; WiFI connection - Good. But has the "Server Connectoin Error" message as follows: "Unable to connect to Web Services. Confirm Internet access and try again or enter a proxy address". Since internet connection is checked out, I clicked on the Enter Proxy button. It shows "Proxy Settings" screen with an IP address and a Port number. This IP address is for URL http://HPD03EF6 ("Embedded Web Server").  The HP Network Configuration Pages show the follwoing: "Port" Enabled (but this port number is not the same as the one showed on Proxy Settings screen. Should them be the same?); "Bonjour": Enable; "Microsoft Web Services (WS Discorvery and WS Print)" : Enabled; "IPP":Enabled. So! Is AirPrint the culprit? (why can I set up?) I hope the information provided above is helpful in getting my printer to print wirelessly again.  Thank you very much for your help!

Thank you so very much for sticking with me, senan6806!! An Apple Support (iOS) was able to clear everything up over the phone and I am able to print again with my Photosmart7520!!
