Hi,

Bought this new printer a couple of weeks ago. Set up went well and had no problems. Went away on holiday last week and hid my iMac in the usual place. Now I have connected it all up again and trying to print a letter I get the message that it is not connected to the printer. However, it will print some things like the Wireless quick Start Guide etc if I click the button so the Mac and the Printer are actually talking to eack other. Have tried turning everything off but still get the same result when going back on...................

Help please.

Welcome to HP forums, I see that you are getting connectivity issues with your printer and iMac.

I am eager to assist you.

Restart Mac, printer and router.

  1. Disconnect the power cord from the router.
  2. Turn off the printer.
  3. Turn off the Mac.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to the router, then wait for the Internet activity light to display a normal connected status.
  5. Turn on the printer.
  6. Turn on the Mac.
  7. Try printing again.

Update the printer firmware

Refer this HP document to update the printer firmware:- Click here

Update the Mac OS, Click here to know how to update the Mac OS.

If the issue persists, delete the existing print queue and add the printer

  1. Make sure your Mac is connected to the Internet.

  2. In the Printers list, click your HP printer, and then click the Minus button  to delete it.

  3. Click the Add button .

  4. Find and select the name of your printer from the Printer list, and then click Add to add your printer. Do not select an HP Fax driver.

      note:

If your printer does not display in the list, make sure the printer is connected, turned on, has power, and is ready to print.

Image: The Add window showing a selection of printers with one model selected.
  5. Click Print Using or Use.

  6. Select the name of your printer (if available) or AirPrint.

Your new printer queue displays in the Printers list in an Idle status .

  7. Try printing again.

Thank you very much, Sandy but I still cannot make the printer obey. I disconnected everything as you told me to and on reconncetion it still would not work.

I then tried to follow the removal of the printer (which is the only one on my mac's list) and then putting it back on after which I asked it to print but the same thing came back......printer not connected yet when I tell it to print the printer icon appears on the bottom right of my mac;s screen with the bubble announcing the number of jobs (1) if I click on that it just says no printer found.

The rest of the stuff in your reply seems to be aimed at a Windows computer not an apple one.

Can you advice me further?

Thank you.

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate your time and effort.

I understand the issue better now.

The steps provided in the previous post are for Mac only.

However, if the issue still persists, follow the below steps to fix this issue.

Disable IPv6 on the printer

Use the menu on your printer control panel to set IPv4.

  1. From the home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon .

  2. Touch the Settings icon , and then touch Advanced Settings.

    Figure : Advanced Settings menu

    • If IPv6 is set to Off, the printer is already using IPv4. Skip to the next step.

    • If IPv6 is set to On, touch to turn it off, and then touch Yes to confirm.

  3. Try printing from AirPrint.

Turn off Internet Printing Protocol over HTPPS (IPPS)

  1. Print a Network Configuration Page, and then locate the URL(s) for Embedded Web Server.

Figure : Example of the EWS URL on the Network Configuration Page

EWS URL on the Network Configuration Page
  2. From a computer connected to your network, type the entire URL into an Internet browser, and then press Enter. If the webpage remains blank, try a different Internet browser.

Figure : Example IP address in the browser

Example IP address for the printer typed in the browser

    The EWS displays.

  3. Click Network, and then click Internet Printing Protocol.

The Internet Printing Protocol screen displays.

  4. Clear the Internet Printing Protocol over HTPPS (IPPS) box, and then click Save.

  5. Try printing from AirPrint.

Hello,

At install of new ENVY 5052, "Network Device Installation", the "Installing network device..." fails, and I eventually get a failure to connect message.

Could my Malwarebytes and/or Norton Security be the problem. Also, we recently have installed U-Verse fiber.
