Hi there,
I am having trouble connecting my HP Envy 4523 to web services. I have gone through multiple forums to try and solve this but nothing has worked. I am trying to set up Instant Ink and in order to do that, I need to be connected to web services.
I have tried entering my printer's IP address into my browser bar but that doesn't come up with anything. I am currently living in at uni and I have contacted IT support to see if they have blocked this, but they assured me they haven't and that it should be working.
if anyone can offer me some help I will be very grateful.
Thank you.

Hello @SimbaLorking,
Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're trying to connect to Web Services to sign up for Instant Ink. I will certainly do my best to help you and please remember to return to this thread and mark 'Accept as Solution' if I have successfully helped you resolve the issue. If you wish to say 'thanks' for my effort to help, click the 'thumbs up' to give me a Kudos.
The reason you're experiencing problems is because of the type of network at the university. You're on a large network with limited access. The printer requires internet access and needs to stay connected to the server to use Instant Ink.
In addition, if the printer is connected to the network, everyone on the same network will be able to print to your printer (leaving your printer vulnerable).
I understand the need and want to use this program while at school, however, your current arrangement is not ideal.
If you insist on using Instant Ink, you can try using a mobile hotspot to connect the printer to Web Services for Instant Ink. This type of connection is not recommended, as it can cause replenishment issues and is not a stable connection. You would need to connect it once a day to the hotspot to connect the printer to the server to send updates.
As for printing is concerned, I recommend that you a USB connection or Wi-Fi Direct (with security).
See this guide: 'Connect wirelessly to the printer without a router'
I hope this information is helpful. 🙂
