When I inititially installed the printer it worked great! Then after a year, it has stopped printing. It has only been used maybe 15x in the year. The error messages will say "load paper" (there is paper), looking for printer (solid blue light for wifi), "ready to print" but won't print.
I use Xfinity wireless router. and a MacBook Pro

Hi @Herlambe3,
Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I understand you are having issues with your HP Envy Printer not working. Don’t worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I’ll need a few more details:
Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?
Did you recently replaced the router? Please ensure all HP Printer supports only 2.4 GHz network and not 5 GHz network. Also check if the router channel is 6 or 11. If it’s set to 11, then change it to 6 and vice-versa.
Please make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Remove USB cable, if present.
Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.
Let’s first try and make a “photocopy” to determine whether the issue is with the printer or not. Place a document on the scanner glass and choose “Copy” option. If the printer is making a good copy, then the printer hardware is fine.
If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to check for the latest firmware update if available for your printer, using this website.
If the copy comes out bad, I would suggest you try the steps suggested in the support document for - HP ENVY, DeskJet Printers - 'Out of Paper' Displays and Printer Does Not Pick Paper
If the copy comes out fine, I would suggest you try these steps here:
Perform a reset printing system on Mac:
- Click the Apple menu icon, and then click “System Preferences”.
- Click “Printers and Scanner” / “Print and Scan” or “Print and Fax”.
- Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, and then click “Reset printing system”.
- Click “Reset” in the confirmation window.
- Enter an administrator username and password, and then click “OK”.
- Wait until the printing system is reset and no devices show in the Printers list
- Restart your computer and then go back to System preferences – Printers and scanners.
- Click the “Add button” (+).
- Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer.
- Click “Print Using...” or “Use”, and then select Secure AirPrint or AirPrint. Alternatively, you may select the name of your printer if available in that list.
Let me know if those steps worked for you.
If they did, that’s awesome!
Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,
That’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!
Good Luck.

This worked one time and then every time I want to print I have spend 30-45 minutes reinstalling everything on the printer. The problem is the printer isn't staying connected to my computer or internet. It will copy fine. Can I speak to someone to see if there is something else to do?

Hi @Herlambe3,
Thank you for replying,
As I understand you have followed the steps suggested and it seems to have worked, however it keeps disconnecting. Don't worry as I have a few other steps which should help you resolve this issue.
Is the printer connected to the network? Check the wireless light. If the light is steady blue, then the printer is connected to the network. If the light is flashing, then the printer is not connected to the network. Go to Setup - Network - Wireless setup wizard to connect the printer to the newtork.
Once the printer is connected to the network, then assign a static IP to the printer:
- Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
- Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
- Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
- Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
- Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
- Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
If the issue persists, Let's try to perform Reset Printing System in Mac:
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Eagerly waiting for your response!
I hope you have a good day ahead,
And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

Hello~
- Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer. DID THIS BUT THEN WHAT WEBSITE DO I CLICK ON
- Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings. Where do I find this? I attached a screenshot of thw websites with an IP address, but then wasn't sure that was a good idea.
I TRIED RE-INTALLING MY PRINTER, BUT....
- Click the “Add button” (+). MY PRINTER IS NOT LISTED/LOCATED
- Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer." I WOULD HAVE TO RE-INSTALL ON MY MAC~ THIS IS WHERE THE PROBLEM IS, IT DOESN'T STAY CONNECTED. ( I have done this 10x)
