We upgraded our Cox WiFi modem to a 194C30 and our Office Jet 6700 will not print unless we turn it off and turn it on each time we want to use the printer. I've followed all of the trouble shooting steps in the user manual. The error message when you want to print from another computer or a second document on the same computer is "Printer not found". I've reviewed the community postings and found one person that had a similar problem on a different printer but the fix didn't work for mine because I didn't have IP16V (not sure exactly what the designation was but it was something similar to this) option to turn off in Advanced Setup under networks. Any suggestions?

Thank you for joining HP Forums.
It's a pleasure assisting you in finding answers to your technical queries.
As I see the printer prints when you turn off and turn it back on this connectivity issue.
update the printer firmware and Mac software:
Restart the printer and the MAC
Then, Assign Manual IP to the printer:
1) Print a Network configuration page from the printer's control panel.
2) Look for IP address from the Network configuration page.
3) Open web browser - Safari.
4) Type the IP address mentioned on Network configuration page into the browser's address bar or URL bar and press enter button.
5) Go to the Network tab.
6) Click on Networking from the left pane.
7) Then click on Network Address (IP).
😎 Click on Manual IP Address and go to suggest a Manual IP.
9) Scroll down the screen and select Manual DNS server.
10) Enter the Primary and secondary DNS server from the Network Configuration page into the Manual Preferred DNS server field.
11) Click on Apply.
Refer to the video link for step by step instructions - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCnYyq80V9g
Note: The video is for win 8 but steps are similar for other operating systems as well. You need to enter the IP address in the browser's URL or the address bar to access the printer page.
Check if the issue persists.

I've followed the instructions above but it didn't work. I was not able to select "Networking" in step 6, but I was able to confirm the IP address and DNSv4 are in manual mode and that the IP and DNS addresses were the same as the ones from the Network Configuation Page. I selected the Status and IPv4 under Wireless (802.11 ) and was able to verify the manual modes and addresses in those configuations. The WINS server was unconfigured. What am I missing?

Appreciate all your time and efforts.
Let's follow the below steps to remove the printer and add the printer as AirPrint.
Step 1: Remove multiple printers from the printer list
Check for multiple devices in the Printers list, and then remove any extra entries other than one in idle status.
-
Search the Mac for Print, and then click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners in the list of results.
-
Find the printer names that match your printer from the list of devices.
Figure : Printers and Scanner window with multiple names of a printer in the list
-
If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button
at the bottom of the list. Leave one 'idle' printer in the list that matches your printer if available and use this printer as the Default printer.
-
Try printing again.
-
If the printer prints, you can stop troubleshooting.
-
If the printer remains offline or displays an error, continue to the next step.
-
Step 2: Delete the existing print queue and add the printer
Remove the printer queue from the list of printers, and then add it again. Doing so creates a new printing session.
-
Make sure your Mac is connected to the Internet.
-
In the Printers list, click your HP printer, and then click the Minus button
to delete it.
-
Click the Add button
.
-
Find and select the name of your printer from the Printer list, and then click Add to add your printer. Do not select an HP Fax driver.

-
Click Print Using or Use.
-
Select the name of your printer (if available) or AirPrint.

Your new printer queue displays in the Printers list in an Idle status
.

Try printing again.

I've deleted the printer and added it back. I was able to change both the IP address and DNS to "Manual" and apply the proper addresses but none of it worked. I've made the changes several times but no luck. The only way I can print more than one item is to restart the printer between each printing.

Let's try disabling the IPV6 and try to print.
Use the IP address of your printer, then open any web browser, type in the address of the printer.
This wil open the Web console ( EWS) of the printer. Select Network Tab disable the IPV6.
Restart the printer.
Try to print.
Keep me posted, how it goes!
Have a great day!
Cheers:)

My EWS does not have an IPv6, only an IPv4 and I don't understand how to disable it. Under IPv4 I have the IP address and the DNS set to manual with the addresses from the Network configuration page. How do I proceed?

It looks like you were interacting with @Raj1788, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out.
What's the make and model of your WiFi router?
Do you have any antivirus software installed on your Mac?
Approximately how far is the printer located from the WiFi router?
Could you check for WiFi interference and also perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results. Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by touching the wireless icon on the printer display.

The Make and model of our WiFi router is Arris, TG1682G. I do not have any antivirus software installed on my Mac. The printer is about 20 feet from the router. Signal strength is maximum strength. The Ping test results are shown below:
10 packets, 0 loss
round trip min/avg/max/std dev
0.077/0.121/0.169/0.034
One test I performed showed the following conditions:
EWS Home page: Status ready & connected, ePrint on and Wireless direct on
IP Address & DNS in manual mode set to addresses from Network Configuration Page
It seems that the printer times-out for some reason. What next?
Print Sharing on
Saw printer go to "Not connected" after about 2 to 3 minutes of inactivity on Print Queue page

Thanks! It's possible that the wireless router is blocking or not able to forward multicast packet (Bonjour). Please contact your internet service provider or router manufacturer and check if the router is able to forward multicast packets. If the router is able to forward Bonjour packets, use the steps available here to troubleshoot and resolve the connectivity issue.
