Officejet Pro 8620
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

In trying to connect my existing Officejet Pro 8620 to my new router (excellent high end router) the 8620 cannot find the 5G network from the router. The router has two networks, a 2G and a 5G, the 8620 can see and connect to the 2G but does not seems to be able to see or connect to the 5G network. I have connected my computer and all other wireless peripherals to the 5G network and I don't understand why the 8620 can't seem to do it.

By the way,  I moved the printer right next to the router and it still cannot see it. I also tried entering all the information about the 5G network manually on the printer screen (from the "other network" choice from the list of available wifi networks) and again it still cannot see of connect to the 5G network.

As I mentioned, I have connected my computer and all other wireless peripherals to the 5G network, and I don't want to downgrade my computer connection and all other wireless peripherals to the slower 2G network just because the 8620 can't find the 5G network. Any suggestions?

No, it supports 2.4GHz only. You need to allow your router to broadcast both (dual) bands which are 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz

Wireless printers are only supported on the 2.4G band, not the 5G band.   Enable the 2.4G band with a different SSID and connect.  All will work just fine as all devices on the 2.4 or 5 bands will print to the printer.

Thank-you to both Banhein and Sabretooth04 for your help. I've got it working now. My concern was that the 2.4GHz and 5.9GHz bands would be considered different networks and would not work simultaneously--but I see that is not the case. Thanks again!!

Thank you for keeping this message alive. It helped me with the same issue about not being able to connect to my 5G network.  Now I understand.
